The Spurs treated him better than the Clippers.

There's so many better ways they could have handled this. Not surprised by a team that has a history of PR disasters.

#4 Timberwolves, The team needs leadership. No team has a bigger hole at PG, so he’d get serious minutes for the rest of the season and the playoffs. He could unlock Gobert, with his experience running pick and roll with DeAndre Jordan. He could pass on knowledge to Ant and Dillingham. MIN has a partially guaranteed vet min deal (Bones Hyland) that helps hardcapped LAC.

They already have a vet PG in Mike Conley. I would think Paul makes no sense if he's still there.

I think he wants to ring chase. His instagram post might be a way to get a contender to sign him rather than look like an obvious attempt to ring chase. Just a thought.

Wow they absolutely did him dirty. Your franchise GOAT in his retirement year ? Even if he didn’t ask for it, I don’t care how “bad” he was. You keep him.

This just reads terribly... Of course CP3 isn't what he used to be, but come on. Hopefully CP3 can go to a great team on his way out.

The Wolves need a point guard desperately( Conley looked washed last time I saw him) but Paul at this stage in career isn’t it. I would like to be proven wrong by him. He was a great vet for the Spurs last year. Dillingham could get a lot of insight and development from Paul.

I feel like Paul would be just as valuable off the court as on it. And if you can get 12-15 minutes from Paul and Conley (which may keep them healthy for the playoffs), you can stitch together the rest with point-Ant.

Start 40 year old Paul, then bring the kid Conley (38) in as a back up.

the nba - where the drama never stops.

i can't wait for chris paul's generation of stars (lebron, kawhi, durant) to retire and take their off-court silliness with them.

To me CP’s post makes it clear that this wasn’t on his terms.

CP has not performed at an NBA level this year, but I’m not sure what the Clippers think releasing him here, in the middle of a road trip, accomplishes.

they'll retire Kawhi, Harden, and George before Paul and Griffin, just watch

I don't think they should retire any jerseys but truth be told Kawhi and George at least got to the Conference Finals.

And yet, they bend over backwards to do anything Uncle Dennis asks for, including breaking nba salary cap rules.

I presume this is a sequel to a contentious private discussion.

It’s hard to know what happened behind the scenes, but the announcement came at a strange time and doesn’t seem well crafted. It also doesn’t seem like Chris Paul even knew about it before it was announced.

If this is it for him it’s a particularly sad end to his career.

the only reason i can think of is they told CP that he was going to be a benchwarmer for the rest of the season and he refused.
Otherwise, there is no reason to be doing this. It's not like he's the biggest problem with the team or is stunting the growth for some young players.
Just weird PR move, let CP ride the bench and do his farewell tour.

no one should chase him. Idk what you guys are picturing, this is not the same CP3 anymore. He should be in the Udonis Haslem role at this point.

Who the hell is "I"?

Lawrence Frank? Steve Ballmer?

If he isn't the one to blame then why cut him? CP3 isn't playing well and he is definitely part of why they are 5-17 or 5-16 whatever but he is just a small part of this mess. He is retiring and in his farewell tour and you cut him. This franchise.

There's definitely more to the story.
It's mutual, they're not doing him dirty..

He wants to ring chase,Clippers were supposed to be a contender of sorts but clearly, that's not the case

It sounds the exact opposite of mutual. He wasn't expecting it per his post and he's not even being waived. He's being sent home. So he can't even join another team

And Chris joined the Clippers to retire, not to ring chase. He specifically said he didn't care about the state of the team when he signed back in the summer
