The ASG is nevertheless still about drawing ratings, and coaches know Roy is one of the most popular/covered athletes in sports nowadays, so they assume he will draw very high ratings. Plus, higher ratings promotes the coaches' teams as well when they draw viewers for their own games.

Even the TNT crew said that Baron and/or SJax should have made it, so that says a lot about how much Baron got shafted.

I disagree. If the coaches were voting to get ratings (which I don't believe is the case because coaches have more respect for the game than that), they would have picked Baron Davis. Davis is a much more exciting and emotional player than Roy. Then there's also the subplot of Davis sitting on the same bench as Dirk (and as far as ratings go, the league LOVES GSW vs Dallas storylines now).

Roy isn't a flashy player. And to be honest, as a Blazer fan, I don't expect him to do much in the All-star game. The Portland Metropolitan area might tune into the game to see Roy, but he's definitely not the ratings grabber.

So, no, I don't think financial implications were on the minds of the coaches who voted for Roy.

DO you actually comprehend what your clapping to?

Your actually saying that not one player on the east all star team would make the first or second west all star team.

You are saying that all those players are better then Lebron James and Dwight Howard.

Well done.

no, thats not what hes clapping to.

what I said was that each one of the all star snubs would have made it to the ASG in the east. all that means is that they're better than the last player in the east to be selected at that particular position.

i.e baron>>>>joe johnson, and kaman>bosh, or jefferson>butler

Are you Western conference fans watching the NBA through a different lens than the rest of us? Your snubs couldn't hold a candle to the Eastern all-stars. The Eastern starters are easily just as good as the Western starters this year, and the team as a whole would crush the western snubs.

PG Kidd / Billups / Johnson
SG Wade / Pierce / Hamilton
SF LeBron / Butler
PF Garnett / Jamison
Cc Howard / Bosh

I'll go so far as to say that the East will beat the West in this years all star game.

WOW

yes. i am.

kaman: 17/ 14 / 2 ast/ 3blocks (crappy team)

bosh: 22.7/ 9 / 2 ast / 1.2 blocks (system player)

so what makes bosh better, his impeccable defense?

his defense is better than kamans. Kaman is a horrible defender. He can block shots and thats it.

You haven't even seen bosh play if you think its because of the system. Take it to the player comparison board and see what you get.

If only the warriors weren't absolutely crushed by the blazers both times.

Clearly the coaches screwed up:

Baron Davis 5 points, 6 assists, 1 rebound

Brandon Roy: 20 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds.

...and the Warriors beat Chris Paul and the Hornets in NO two games ago. WTF is your point?

Better stats, more experience, led his team to more wins, more exciting player= Baron got snubbed.

Roy is a very good player, btw.

Meanwhile the Blazers needed OT to beat the Knicks at home, while Baron played only 24minutes (+27 rating) and his team won by 31 points.

Consider the context, genius.

Roy is no where near Baron's level of play,
please... move on.

Watch Baron destroy the second half of the season...

Go back one page and see for yourself. I listed the stats...

24 minutes, +27, Warriors win by 31 points. If you really want to see how good the guy is go back another game as he led the Warriors to a blowout win in New Orleans, going for 23 pts and 9assists with 5/7 3pters.

How did the Blazers do last night against the lowly Knicks in Portland?

Honestly Warriors fans need to stop moaning about the allstar game... the coaches pick for it. Deal with it. If anything you need to root for him to make the all nba team( a much more significant award) which he has only done once in his career, which is appalling given that several of you have said he he is the best all round point guard in the game.

Fittingly there's almost as much whining coming out of Real GMers on the Davis "snub" as is there is coming out of Baron Davis himself during an NBA game.

Just think, maybe he'll be good enough to get a roster spot on the all +/- team!

I suppose that's true; after all Roy hasn't reached the part of his career where he can shoot his team out of a game.

Baron Davis's team won in a blowout game where the whole 4th quarter was garbage time. Brandon Roy needed a triple double JUST to beat the Knicks in overtime. Oh wow. Brandon Roy is amazing.
