ever heard of candice parker?

She's no Kournikova. And it's Candace*.

Thank you...

Kournikova was hot by hot girls tandards,

Candace Parker is hot by WNBA standards, that won't' cut it.

as a chicago native and someone who drooled over candance when she was in high school (i was in high school too at the time), she used to be WAY WAY WAY hotter...but then she got that whole "im a professional athlete" type of body...even her last year at tennesse, she was a dime piece, imo

well, that is pretty bad...i imagine i was 9-10 years old when chamique was chrushing fools at tennesse and i knew of her then

WNBA marketing is doing it ALL WRONG.

WNBA needs to be marketing to GIRLS. Miley Cyrus tie-ins, Sixteen magazine, commercials in front the next teeny-bopper TWILIGHT movie, MTV, have the stars do walk-ons on those awful MTV reality shows, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Grey's Anatomy, all that stupid **** that teenage girls are into.

Once you hook the girls, then dads will start taking their daughters to games all the time because they will be excited their daughter is actually into sports, and they finally have common interests.

(also, they should engineer a romance between a top WNBA star and NBA one - i hate to be sexist but i'm about to be anyways... women eat that **** up. Make it a sports version of "brangelina").

Commercials on ESPN? WTF? Like guys give a **** about it?

The way to make guys give a **** is to hook GIRLS into it. Then fathers will want to hang out with their daughters. Guys will be semi-interested because their girlfriends are into, or will at least feign interest to get some poontang, I mean would u rather go to see some chick flick or go to wnba? At least one of them is sports and u dont have to stare at matthew mconoghy shirtless.

I'll jump it to play my broken record:

That's just nasty.... Even I have a foot fetish and that's just over the top.

But really WNBA is decent. I watch it off and on, and it's really not bad. it's just more of a team oriented game.

Seriously, NBA is a star oriented game. Team's like the Magic are more team oriented, and people I've heard say their a boring team. I mean, this is a championship team with Jameer Nelson. and people rather see Lebron James and a whole bunch of scrubs in the championship? no....

Like seriously...how does it affect any of you?

I personally love the WNBA and I watch the NY Liberty regularly. It's really not as bad as you guys think.

It's the popular thing to say. It somehow re-affirms a certain aspect of manliness.

Listen, I'm a guy and I have no problem watching the WNBA. I like basketball in all forms. I watch college ball, high school ball, the NBA and yes, the WNBA.

That doesn't mean they're all equal in terms of how much I enjoy watching each, but it's not an all-or-nothing scenario.

Now, I have no problem with people saying they don't watch. That's their prerogative. If they don't like watching it, they shouldn't watch. But this excessive need to put a league down time after time because it doesn't match up with the NBA, a league where players get paid 100000X's more than the average WNBA salary? It's just sort of childish, IMO.

appearntly the wnba's worst team just spanked a man's team by almost 50.

bad timing man.

The team they played is tons worse than even the worst of Rec Ball teams.

Smart marketing, on whomever the person is who marketed the match as "Battle of the Sexes". They played a bunch of out of shape R&B primmadonnas. But people will see the headline and go "OMG a Woman's team, beat a man's team!", ignoring the fact that they didn't even really play true Basketball players

Talk to me, when a WNBA team can spank even a mid-major College level team.
------

I also agree with the people who are in the "The WNBA's fundamentals are overrated" crowd. The WNBA has NOTHING flashy. Maybe a nice pass here and there(followed by a layup), but nothing we aren't used to seeing in the NBA. People key in on all of these "great" fundamentals, because there is nothing else. That gives a perception, that somehow NBA players, aren't fundamentally sound players, just because of their athleticism. Some players admittedly can actually fall back on just their athleticism(Tyrus Thomas), but just because there are some dumb players that are athletic as hell, with low basketball IQ, they don't speak for the majority. Best believe, you aren't making it to the NBA without having some solid fundamental know-how.

I dislike the WNBA mostly because its bleeding money at a time the NBA is struggling. Sports is not a charity and you can defend the WNBA all you want but the numbers do not lie, its not very popular. Either change it so it makes money or can it. The NBA and basketball as a game in general could do much more with the money invested going back to the teams rather than to fund this league.

I love the WNBA, but so far you are the only one who gave a good reason as to why it should be canned. Good post.
