Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would take pleasure in seeing Oden's career derailed over and over. I'm not a Blazers fan, but I've been looking forward to watching him dominate since he was in grade 11, for ****'s sake.

I can't stand the Blazers myself but Greg Oden is so much bigger than that, the guy was on his way to becoming the best big man in the game even after his first two injuries.

Layman's perspective: it looked like his knee cap was in two halves... Roy's reaction upon seeing it, the trainer's covering it with a towel, and the stretcher all point to bad news.

I hope he can recover, and if it's not as bad as it looked that'd be a big plus.

I feel so bad for him. Its just so unfortunate. He is a fun loving kind of guy that was finally coming into his own, so it makes me real sad.

This season has been awful. We have 6 guys out from injury.

BaunceyChillups wrote:Looks like a textbook patellar dislocation. He's done for the season.

Bynum in 2008. It's supposedly a minor injury, but you can't get a bead on the recovery because they typically just move it back into place and don't perform surgery unless it's particularly severe and/or isn't healing properly. Also read that the kneecap becomes more prone to subluxation after it happens the first time.

It was a pain in the ass injury re: Bynum because it took months before they could even discover that they needed to reshape his patella. The procedure was minor, they had to sand down rough spots on his patella that caused the knee to swell after working out. However, they didn't know until he was ready to practice w/ the team months after the injury.

Something like this isn't anything to be a dick about. Any word on the severity of it? That video clip doesn't look good.

I feel bad for the guy. I mean he was finally coming into his own as a player this year. The injury just happened out of nowhere. He went up to contest Brooks shot and was grabbing his knee in mid air. I had deja vu with Sir Charles injury as a Rocket.

Wish him the best.

And Trailblazer fans, I know it sucks to be hit with injuries but that's part of the game. Rockets and Wizards fan especially can relate. IT SUCKS !!!

And if thats the case then consider this another lost season for the PDX. Without Oden manning the middle they dont have enough talent to challenge Western Elites AND he loses out on valuable developmental time.

And odds are at this point he might become gunshy about going all out for rebounds and blocks. When your knees constantly give out on you like that, it really taxes the mind.

This is just brutal for Oden, and I truly hope he makes a full recovery (and by no means, a rushed recovery). At first I thought him leaving on a stretcher could just be a precaution, but looking at the video and the look on his face, I unfortunately do not think that is the case. I have always been on the "lets wait and see with oden" faction, but there is no denying he was becoming at least a very nice player in the league, and a geniunely classy act as well.

Why can't this happen to a jackass in the league? Greg underwent an MRI its a fractured left patella. Surgery planned. Likely out for the season
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.
