Why not? Either respect the boundaries of an agreement or pay the price. That should be the rule.

DJ is the one who didn't respect the boundaries of the agreement. It's not like he's signed on the dotted line yet, he just gave a verbal commitment and then backed out of it.

Is it a cowardly and unethical move on DJ's part? Absolutely, but I don't see how you can justify punishing the Clippers over it. If anything, DJ should be fined.

I understand why the Clips are doing it, but it's also cowardly and unethical on their part to not respect the previous agreement that had been laid down. It's going to hurt their reputation going forward and if it doesn't prompt a reprimand, I bet it will at least prompt a rule change of some kind.
