Man reading this, it sounds like we just had the best draft of all time. No way 6 months from now the majority in here won't be let down and talking about how horrible their front office is at drafting...

This board is very hyperbole. And I’m not speaking on every fan. But man, one game RJ doesn’t shoot effectively, he’s a bad player and wouldn’t be a future player. It’s something I can never wrap my head around that instead of saying “Player X had a bad game” it’s “Player X is a complete bust”

Agreed in full. That said, RJ is good.

I wouldn't put much faith into Knox. RJ and Mitch though, 100%.

Knox has given Knicks fans a little hope this preseason. It's been assumed that the efficiency would increase because he gets his shots with such ease but his putrid all around game aside from that is looking a lot better.

Ja is like a more explosive Rondo.

It will take him some time to figure it out especially as a rookie PG.

I see a Trae like season slow start and super strong finish.

I am going hyperbole on the board and call it, DeAndre Hunter will be the next great 3D wing in the East. Paul George like on both ends of the floor. I don't see him getting 28 a season like George did in OKC last season, but 18 - 20 a night is going to be a given three years from now.

His shot is like butter, he finds his teammates, he has good handles. and he has the ability and length to cause problems guarding players 1 - 4.

Surprising RJ and Ja don’t have as many votes... It’s between those two.

Pelicans are way better than NY and Memphis. They don’t need Zion on the floor at all times to carry them.

If Zion is played cautiously and misses 25% or more games, I think it is wide open. Ja should be able to get his assist numbers and minutes in. You have scorers like White and Herro who will be getting all kinds of highlight reel hype. You have players who will be playing all around games like Hunter, Culver, and Rui. Then you have players like Barrett and Garland, whose teams are so badly balanced they can put up 15 to 20 shots during any given game.

If Zion is not the ROY, I don't think anyone is a lock.

I like Porters all around game; but I think Hunter is far more advanced. I would compare where Hunter is now at 21 to where Porter was at 23-24 and playing for the Wizards. Porter upped his game when he got to Chicago; but it took him a long time to get there. Hunter is listed as 6'7" 225, he looks like can put on another 10 lbs. of muscle pretty easily.

Hunter is not much more advanced. He was a super high floor prospect coming out of Virginia but his offensive game is nothing much other than the elite 3 and D. Hunter is a so so pick at number 4 since he might be a starter from day 1 but I dont see all star PG13 ceiling. In fact, Reddish might have a higher ceiling since he can do a lot more.
Hawks simply gave too much assets trading away 3 firsts and an early 2nd for a propsect not close to the level of Doncic or even Young.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

Virginia did not ask any of their players to play ISO ball and pick and rolls are a foreign language in their offensive system. Watch the highlights and watch Hunter drive to the basket, score, and pass to open players. Watch him pump fake, reset, and shoot. Coach Pierce even said in a interview their plan was to develop his ball handling skills and he was surprised that they did not need as much developing as he thought. If you listen, one of the broadcasters, Doris Burke even mentions his driving ability as being a big surprise.

Hunter is built like a tank already and has a 7'2" wing span. He is going to be a beast. Cam's upside is great but he is more of a 2/3 and Hunter is more of a 3/4. Cam did play some point guard in High School. You are entitled to your opinion and one us will be wrong.

The 2020 1st round pick you are so worried about is the Cavs. It is top 10 protected and turns into two 2nd round picks if not conveyed. Something tells me the Cavs will be picking in the top 10; probably the top 5. When you are playing with house money, sometimes you need to go all in.

I would be really surprised if Hunter develops into a player above that Otto Porter level, which isn't a slight at all. I just have a hard time seeing him as a guy that could become a teams top-3 offensive option at any point in his career. To me, like Otto, on a truly good team Hunter is that 4th guy.

I don't think George or Butler are good #1 options. Neither has really gotten it done as that. No player is exactly like this player or that player. I think Hunter has a great chance to be a #2 or #3; and a outstanding chance at being the best defender on a team. 3D players who are more than just spot up shooters are rare.

I think Hunter is going to be better than most.

If the Heat makes playoffs and Herro contributes a large part to it he can end up winning ROY

Well they did give up what turned into Hayes, Naw and Didi. All three of those guys are showing out with exceptional potential and Naw is looking like he might have star potential. So I guess this trade really worked out for both teams. Really risky for Atlanta but they got their guy and who knows maybe he does end up being Kawhi 2.0. I don’t think there’s gonna be a better rookie this year than Naw other than Zion though. He just looks amazing.

I love that RJ Barrett pick by Knicks. His game reminds me so much of Paul Pierce. RJ is going to be pretty good.

I also love Hunter (a perfect 3 and D player for Hawks) and NAW (a damn good 3pt shooter). I also love Coby White for Bulls as well, I think he is going to be a microwave scorer off the bench for Bulls right from the get-go - which they really needed anyway.

rj barrett already has shown that his floor is still a good player and a jumpshot is what seperates him from the pack.

he's a triple double threat. he score, he rebounds, and he passes. his defense has been real solid too, vets try to body him but he's already physically developed.

how did duke not win it all with him and zion having the ability to bully you.

I didn't really see any example of good handles in that clip. Seems like he's good at driving in a straight line but that's about the extent of it.

Hunter can be a really good 3+D guy but projecting beyond that might be a little bit much. If he's an Otto Porter type the Hawks have to be happy with that . Although idk if I see his shooting getting to Otto's level, he is already a better defender than Otto.

He could be a younger poster or maybe just doesn't remember Pierce's game. Awful , awful comparison lol

Yall have got to stop comparing RJ to players who had elite shooting touch. Right now Barrett is more like a smarter Tyreke evans. We'll see how his shot develops from there but that's his baseline.
