The Thunder will be in the NBA Finals in 2027. There, now we've both made predictions based on no facts whatsoever.

That will be the next step. They still hope to acquire some very high level talent in the '22 and possibly '23 draft to add to a solid and young core of SGA, Dort and Giddey. In the meantime they need to continue to develop Bazley/Poku/Mann and see if they can be solid rotational players. I expect this year and next to be about drafting and development, but by 23/24 Presti will use his arsenal of draft picks to add solid veterans and start contending again. Sucks for fans for a couple of years (although this team is fun to watch) but that's reality in a small market.

You’ll be saying the same thing in 2027.

They dont even have the worse record in the league. They have been tanking for 1.3 or so seasons at this point. There is no indication they are going to tank forever.

It makes all the sense in the world to not try to make win-now moves until summer 2023. By that point they have SGA, Giddey and a likely top 8 (Hopefully better) talent from the 2022 draft. They are doing everything right. Everything except moving Sengun.

of course they are selling hope, what you totally failed to do is argue why that should be "Presti's snake oil".
You might not like the product, but it doesn't mean at all that a Thunder fan shouldn't enjoy the ride.
You take each game for what it is, a chance to see a group of young guys compete and figure out who of them has potential to be part of the next great Thunders team.
And you can cheer for every otherwhise meaningless win.

Yes we have to dump John Wall and Eric Gordon, but a core of Wood/Porter/Green/Sengun/Tate/Martin Jr/Garuba is laden with potential and skill. Compare that to OKC's core which is just SGA, Poku, Giddey, Mann and a bunch unknown draft picks. Rockets core and future prospects are looking better already than OKC's

I am going to assume You are a Rockets fan because I would take the Thunder current roster and assets over the Rockets 10/10 times. The Rockets already have an established young guy in SGA. And multiple good potential players with a ton of future assets and flexibility going forward.

SGA is going to be wasting away over the next few seasons and won’t be making the playoffs any time soon. I bet the rockets make the playoffs before okc does

Hey.

Ok. Who wants to admit they were wrong? No shame in admitting bad takes. I did so with the kings this year.

Are you really bumping a thread for a team under .500 and the 10th seed? Oof.

It’s deserved.

They’ve played their butts off as a young team who has been missing their #2 draft pick.

You’ve got teams around them like the Mavs with Luka/Kyrie below them, Jazz/Blazers pulling tank jobs yet they were called out. They played the season the right way when so many on here said they weren’t.

Wrong about what? Shai’s emergence as a bonafide MVP-calibre player makes it even more damning that Presti tried to put the worst possible roster around him that he could.

Maybe this offseason Presti will actually round out the roster with NBA calibre players, instead of the ~6 he has now. I sure hope so.

I honestly bumped this not for apologies but for idiotic posts like this. Okc is missing the the number 2 draft pick, still had the second best rookie in the draft, were only predicted to win 25 games and shai still doesn’t want to play in Canada. Kisses.

Context, my young child. Okc has been trolled as the disgrace of the league which is in fact Houston andDetroit. No one, including myself, think okc is a legit threat but smart people don’t just jump on a bandwagon.

they had a great season, even if they lose the play in game. SGA had an MVP caliber season, Giddey took a big leap, Jalen williams is probably the best rookie behind Banchero, Isaiah joe is very underrated. with Chet on this team its gonna be scary hours. looking forward to them next year

This thread was from 2021. There was definitely no Mavs with Luka/Kyrie around the Thunder in 2021.

Hey.

Thunder still haven’t made playoffs though so that guy isn’t wrong. They made the play-in.

I had about a bakers dozen threads I could have bumped. When shai missed a few games after all star break, people once again lost their minds. It’s been going on since okc traded George and Westbrook and it was just a bunch of idiotic takes from day one.

So you think SGA is wasting away? Do you want to double down with him on the rockets making the playoffs before okc?

LMAO @ OKC fans flexing about making the play-in tourney as a 10th seed that's below .500 and only squeaked in because other teams chose lottery odds over losing a play-in game on the road...

Why not bump one about 2022-23 then? Even the more recently posts in this thread are still discussing the Thunder from the time frame the original post is referencing.

Okc's template is to be in perpetual youth. They're are the eternal peter pans on the nba. kd said "we were getting younger not better" .... Sound familiar?
