Kyrie could take the vaccine, since he isn't anti-vaxx. And then use his salary to set up a relief fund for those who have lost their jobs due to covid mandates. That way he gets to play, use the daily media access as a platform to speak out against the mandates, and also support those hardest hit by these mandates.

You know, I'm actually happy to run with the seat belt analogy for you people who just put your hands over your ears when informed that the vaccine does help reduce spread.
Seat belts have saved a massive number of lives since their inception, and seat belt laws have of course led to more people wearing their seat belts. You may ask why we need them, as you'd have to be an idiot not to wear one, but people still choose not to for whatever reason. But it's on the individual, right? Well does that individual pay taxes? Do they work for an employer who relies on them for labor? Do they have employees who rely on them for a paycheck? Do they have friends or family who would be devastated if they died? Bottom line: the benefits to society of seat belt laws greatly outweighs the lack of freedom to not wear your seat belt.
As of now we still have 1,400 people dying every day from Covid, down from a high (for this wave) of nearly 2,000 a few weeks ago. Most of those people would be alive today if they had taken 5 minutes to get the vaccine. Just think about that.
people need to get vaccinated so they can keep providing $$$ to govt and companies? i get what you are trying to say but you just kinda killed the argument.
What do you mean man! Do it for the guy who relies on you as a form of labor and would easily replace you for someone cheaper if they could! Don't be so selfish!

You missed the point. I'm saying that even if the vaccine only protects the individual (which is false), that benefit is still a benefit to society, whether that's economically, socially, or in terms of happiness for lack of a better word. Tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people have died in this country because they opted not to get the vaccine. Millions of people losing loved ones for absolutely no good reason takes a toll on society.

It's a dumb analogy.

So everyone's insurance goes up, mine and I pay out. It's a bad joke. Yeah... the system and the laws are actually based on near everyone wearing their **** seatbelts. so no... it doesn't work if half the people decide not to.

A little off topic but I've always found it strange how school buses or motorcycles don't have them but it's a law on everything else.

It was grandfathered for buses, taxies etc. and nobody went back to buses is my guess.
But motorcycles... lol... dude you want to get off the bike as quick as you can in an accident or ride on the bike on it's side if you were ever that lucky/agile. but lol.... Strapping a rider on a motorcycle is far worse.

i think drunk driving laws are better analogies. examples you bring up are kinda bad. productivity isnt why society needs to keep its members alive. if that was the case then those who can't work and pay taxes might as well die off.

It severely reduces the chance of getting seriously ill and/or dying, and it reduces the chances of spreading Covid if you do contract it. My whole point was that even if you disregard the latter, the vaccine should still be pushed on those who don't have it. When people die it impacts more than just themselves.

Not at all. I'm very pro vaccine actually. I always encourage everyone to get the vaccine if it makes them feel safe, my own mother included. But more so than being pro vaccine, I'm pro choice. I'm pro logic.
The day that we can start having a serious conversation about the logic behind these decisions (excluding natural immunity, daily testing for both vaxxed and unvaxxed, the political aspect of when the vaccine was pushed by Trump vs Biden, etc..) then great. Right now its all just a show.
Since we are talking about negative impacts on society. Do you think the lockdowns and firing people without the vaccine has no negative impact on society? Can we talk about suicide rates, depression rates, insane inflation, mass layoffs, people being unable to afford basic needs like housing/food. We can't, because "if it saves one life then its all worth it".
We need to protect our most vulnerable. People 60+, people with pre-existing health conditions. I couldn't agree more with that. But when logic is thrown out and you aren't allowed to ask question without being slandered, I have an issue with that.

Well in the US we never had lockdowns, but yes, the measures we did take was the lesser of two evils, no question. Absent a pandemic, I agree they would have been bad things. As for people getting fired for not getting vaccinated, that's on them. My only sympathy is that a lot of them were led astray by misinformation and disinformation. They have the right to not get vaccinated, and their employers have a right not to employ them. If you're "pro choice" as you claim, you should respect both decisions, no?
Answer this question directly and clearly please: Before Covid, colleges, businesses, the armed forces, and other organizations have mandated numerous vaccines. Did you ever express opposition to these in the way you're opposing Covid vaccine mandates now?

You think unvaccinated people being in the workplace don't have severe negative impacts? Its their choice to be unvaccinated, its the employers choice to fire them for it.

When you talk about the vaccine "working," there are two levels, individual and societal
Individually, the vaccine works if you take it. The vaccine "working" in this case is what you said, it reduces the odds of catching it and severely diminishes the effects of the virus
But "working" on a societal level means getting to a point where the virus can't spread and mutate, or is easily confined, which requires most everyone to get vaccinated. Like how when we got the polio vaccine, we didn't just give it to people who thought they might get polio, we gave it to near everyone, so polio isn't a problem now 70 years later.

Natural immunity seems to be a plenty good reason not to get vaxxed seeing as how it's always been a part of herd immunity. You don't think 1% of the non-vaxxed have natural immunity?
