For me, that's on 'Bron. I'm not big on giving accolades to guys who push their franchise to make trades that make the team worse.

I mean wanted Westbrook and melo but he didn’t demand it .

My understanding is that LeBron specifically pushed for Westbrook. Is that your understanding?

In terms of “didn’t demand it”, that’s irrelevant to me. When you make a point to leave teams who don’t do exactly what you want, you carry that implied threat with you from there in out.

That sounds like a cut and paste from any anti Jokic post. Reality is that if lakers stay on or under .500, lebron is no chance whatsoever.

Giannis? Gobert? DeRozan?
Too many stars on the Bulls. Giannis yes. Gobert is doing the same things he's always done but averaging 1 more point and 1 more rebound but .5 less blocks so not really.

Gobert is literally leading the league in many advanced stats and his team record is better than any eastern team's record.
He will not win but better believe he's a solid top5 candidate. That's his best season.

I agree that people need to be realistic when it comes to LeBron and even Jokic. If their teams are going to continue to languish near .500 then all they can hope for is a top 4 mvp finish. GS really needs to fall off quite a bit for Curry not to get it this year.

Main thing stopping Lebron the player from leading the MVP race is Lebron the GM.

As of right now I'd go:

1. KD
2. Jokic
3. Giannis
4. Steph
5. LeBron

Very close race however

MVP tracker 2021 final:

Giannis 23.2%
Jokic 16%
Durant 14.8%
Curry 13.8%
Gobert 11.5%

Harden 7.4%
Paul 4.4%
Derozan 3.2%
Lebron 3.2%
Mitchell 2.4%

Slight increase to Giannis on the last update and Lebron enters the list. Gobert caught Curry a lot since the last one taking it from a 4 horse race to maybe 5.

first half of first half i got Curry or Durant (Durant above Curry), but second half its LeBron. Lakers "just" need to play better, but its similiar case to last year with Curry.

Others: Jokic, DeRozan, Giannis, Embiid and maybe Butler, but he needs to play more.

I'm shock how Lebron playing right now. :o

Current MVP betting odds:

Curry +110
Durant +240
Giannis +750
Joker +1100

Lebron + 3300
Embiid + 4000
Luka/Demar +5000

Giannis looks like best betting value to me, followed by Joker. Lebron maybe worth a look too.

Aren't Vegas odds just based on money being out down? Is it a shocked a lot of money is going to a California guy that a lot of fans like and getting a lot of media attention?

Huge legacy impact for Curry and Giannis this year for MVP and championship. A win would put them in the elite echelon with the other 8 with three MVPs. A MVP and ring would put Curry Top 10 AT IMO. Would out Giannis Top 15

No, odds are based on the actual prediction (money shades lines, it does not effectively alter them to a significant amount). It is an efficient market, and as all markets it finds an equilibrium. Granted, a constantly moving one, but Curry has been the favorite since week 1.

And @Aussie I’m just feeding a little more objectivity to you being that you’re looking at how the actual vote is projected (take your opinion of Giannis > all ya want, I don’t even necessarily disagree and said over a month ago that he was the undervalued player).

I bet and consult with books for a living.

Yeah, odds are initially set by experts and then adjusted as money from pros and public comes in. But it's also a self-fulfilling prophecy in a way as it's a media-driven award. The media will pump a player's tires...the public then puts money on that player and the lines shift accordingly. But the media is who does the voting, so ultimately the odds give the best representation of who they will vote for.

But this early in the season it's just a snapshot and these odds do tend to change drastically through the year.
