Yes, because the virus is contagious and affecting dozens of players, while injuries are not.

Oh, I thought you were talking about missing key players during the playoffs. If you miss key players due to injury or miss them due to virus, seems like the same result. Sometimes playoffs are decided by missing key players.

Lol imagine it’s the Western Conference Finals and 6 guys on the Warriors sprain their ankles doing something completely unrelated to basketball and miss multiple games. Would that just be business as normal?

After out game against the Bulls our GM said more hawks players tested positive for covid but wouldn't say which ones. We're about to go on a six game western road trip. This is a joke. We already have twelve players out from covid and injuries. The only players left to go into covid would be Cam, Bogi or Dieng that are regular rotation players. The Hawks need these games to be postponed.

We are now at the point we are voiding hardship exemption contracts because the players getting called up are getting COVID-19 while getting acclimated to the league, as in Anthony Tolliver’s case

All these players that are entering or recently went through “covid protocols” and went through the full ten days without “testing out”… what are the possibilities of them going through “covid protocols” again this season?

This is probably the best course of action. Much better than the NFL’s we’re just going to ignore Covid and let it spread policy.

This makes sense. Shorten the quarantine time, test for viral loads and maybe those who tested positive can come back sooner. Continue daily testing to catch and isolate. In the meantime the focus should be on getting the NBA players and staff boosted. Then there’s no need to pause the league.

Because they were infected with either the Alpha variant or Delta variant. And natural immunity from COVID wanes over time and is less effective against newer variants.

The same logic can be applied to the vaccines that were developed to be effective against infections of a previous variant and are still effective against newer variants but less so. Vaccines still offer very high protection against hospitalization and death.

This is why many experts were pushing vaccination as a way out of this and they are right. It’s essentially a race against time and variants. Imagine if we had reached worldwide vaccination rates of 90% over the past year we wouldn’t have mutations and we’d be in a much different place right now.

Allegedly Bol Bol went into protocols twice within a 4 week span. I don't follow the Nuggets though, so can't verify that.

Different sport but same virus and one I can speak to, Chidobe Awuzie went into NFL protocols on November 10th (https://local12.com/sports/bengals/bengals-cornerback-awuzie-placed-on-reservecovid-19-list) and then went back into NFL protocols on December 16th (https://nfltraderumors.co/bengals-place-rt-riley-reiff-on-ir-cb-chidobe-awuzie-on-covid-19-list/).

Also, idk if it was this thread but for sure was RealGM, a poster stated they don't know the reinfection rate of Omicron yet, not enough data or something.

So, to answer your question, I would say there is some percentage of a chance players in the NBA who were in protocols already will be in there again, within the next 4 months.

The Utah Jazz may have lucked out a bit. If/when an Omnicron wave finally hits them, the Jazz players won't have to miss as many games as players missed on teams who were hit with covid waves earlier.

The Hawks now have FIFTEEN players out now. Trae, Capela and Cam are the only real NBA players we have left.

Expressing how crazy it is to have the most players missing ever in a professional sports team right now isn’t complaining. It’s just a shocking situation and every fan has the right to speak out in their own way. Who pissed in your cereal? Not sure why you all come on here with antagonistic ideals. It’s clownish.

Some of you overconfident posters need to get that stick out of your ass sometimes. It doesn’t make you look any less better. Stop being condensing. Life isn’t fair and we also don’t need people like you to bring that energy to it either when someone makes a post about their team’s situation.

You are welcome to take issue with the comment but please don't get so personal. Stuff like "clownish" and "get that stick out your ass" is over the line and not appropriate. -b

How do the Hawks still have so many players out? Its been weeks. Shouldnt most of their team already have cleared protocols by now? Especially with the new 6 day rule?

That is absolutely bonkers, wonder if the NBA should look into taxi squads or something.

What tripe is this? Do you even watch sports? Do you think it is anything resembling competitive games to have a team with FIFTEEN players out be forced to keep playing games?
