Isn’t this the definition of paper tiger ?
Basically the best excuse is that’s it’s just a regular season award. Which is true but it devalues the ‘Value’ part of the award. At no point is regular season the most valuable anything . It’s fodder to the post season and the most valuable players usually get recognized here.

And that's what the Finals MVP is for. Embiid can still compete for it. He might even make it further than Jokic did just two years ago. We shall see!

I'm not attacking his view on basketball by bringing up his non basketball views, I'm attacking the argument that Stephen Jackson is "well respected" and I brought up a couple reasons why I don't think that's the case.

I'm attacking his view on basketball by pointing out how moronic it is to associate a regular season award with playoffs. That shouldn't need to be stated. It's a regular season award, end of story.

So you'll admit that when the going gets tough Jokic can't hang with the big boys in the playoffs. Got it, thanks.

I'll admit that if he gets swept by a team who doesn't make the Finals. But if attributing words to me that I never said helps you sleep better at night, I'm all for it. I know this has been a traumatic day for fans of some players :/

A lot, when these "personal beliefs" are so blatantly idiotic. Jackson is obviously not the sharpest tool in the drawer, to put it mildly, so his opinion on basketball is pretty worthless too.

There is nothing to attack, he has no argument. Saying "the actual basketball players agree with me unlike these nerd journalists who don't know what they are talking about" is not an actual argument.

Lol, this was a travesty, and the fix was in from the media. I'd have relented if players also agreed that Jokic was the MVP. They didn't, because they see the truth.

This was one of the most agenda driven MVPs in recent memory. History will look back at what a mistake this was.

History will say that Jokic is an all-time great. Like Giannis, Curry, and few others.

Embiid will never be in the same sentence as these guys.

People will laugh at all the threads where Jokic was compared with Jahlil Okafor, Embiid, Towns, Porzingis etc.

Congrats to the Jokic! What he did was nothing short of spectacular.

Giannis and Embiid were also worthy but Jokic simply had better stats, played more games and their records were all pretty much the same even though he had a worse team.

These are people who spend almost every waking moment of their lives training for a sport. Most of them have no more than one year of a college degree completed (getting a free pass most of the time as the school has a financial incentive to see them do well). Most athletes are going to be dumb because they don't have time to stimulate their minds.

I disagree.

What I can say is a lot of players see the game in a one-on-one context very clearly and not a team context as well. I think that's what you are picking up.

Coaches and players like Jokic, LeBron, Green, CP3 see the game in a team context very clearly and that's what we refer to when we say BBIQ. All players do both to some.degree but I do think some really focus on the one on one aspect. Most of their training is about one on one still.
