This thread has almost completely derailed with political posting. There is a thread for that in CA. Please people take that discussion there. Many of us don't want to wade through post after post of "Trump is bad", "no he isn't".
Let me suggest asking yourself if your post is likely to get the other side worked up and on the defensive and if the answer is "yes", post it elsewhere. Some stuff is inherently political, and difficult to parse out like that, but at the very least maybe you could set a standard for yourself to post four or five posts without political undertones for every one that does.
This thread for me had been the best outlet, almost therapeutic, to talk about the challenge we're all facing together and it's incredibly frustrating when the battle lines start being drawn and we start treadmilling the same left/right, blue/red, Democrat/Republican territory endlessly.

Only 7 Players in NBA history have 21,000 points, 5,750 assists and 5,750 rebounds. LeBron has double those numbers.

The travel ban on China seemed that way due to Trump's history with travel bans. Besides, South Korea proved that you don't need a total travel ban to handle it. They handled it just by banning travel from the Hubei region (the epicenter). All other travel between the countries continued as normal and that's something that drew a lot of criticism from the populace. And yet, it worked.
But that's enough about the travel bans. My point isn't related to them anyway. My point is that it simply doesn't matter if the people would have took it serious enough to make a difference or not. As a government you have to take it seriously and warned your populace. It's your duty to do so. Not doing so is a failure.
Right but if the people dont listen then what difference does it make.
Trump would have been ripped to shreads if he shut down everyones schools, buisnesses and locked them in their homes back in Dec-Jan.
I just drove up to McDonald's and theres still people out everywhere
Because the way to make people listen is to lead by example. It is to make sure that you're message is 100% "this **** is serious. We need to take it seriously" and then take all the necessary measures. No ifs or buts.
And when I'm talking about necessary measures I'm not talking about quarantines. No one starts with quarantines right away. As people have said in this thread, South Korea hasn't quarantined the whole country. Only the areas with significant community spread such as Daegu were placed on quarantine. The rest of the country hasn't been quarantined.
But they have absolutely taken the right steps to combat this. They never tried to downplay it. They made widespread testing immediately available to everyone so they could track down its spread. They were open and transparent about the results and shared those results both with their public and international health organizations. They did what they had to do.
You don't go from zero to quarantine. The process is supposed to be gradual and it has to start at the earliest possible point. The West, unfortunately, chose to lag behind and that's what we're paying now.

Im just gonna let it go and done talking Trump. Its clearly starting to frustrate everyone now.
My best advise for some of you is look forward and not backwards at this point. This is a global pandemic and not just a Trump one.

Completely agree. Imagine if Trump said from the early get go that this issue goes beyond politics and stated that we should be very concerned about this virus and the whole country (both the republicans and democrats) should united in making sure that the pandemic does not spread to the citizens. And this is coming from a person who is not even on the left and despises the SJW. This issue is/was so important to get it right the first time.

Pretty interesting and seemingly effective tech being used in China

Honestly the more I read about China and especially South Korea, the more primitive the North American response seems.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Well, China also forcibly locked people in their own homes. I think look at the entirety of the Chinese government’s response would show so fairly primitive methods in the mix.

Yep if you look at the numbers over the past 4 or 5 days in Italy each 24 hrs. The amount per 24 increases a lot. 475 in 24 couple days ago one day after 300+ in 24 now yesterday it was 600+ and now 700+
Those amounts are for each 24 hour window not tallying up amounts.

Just don't drink the water thinking it will make your symptoms go away without killing the host.
Any kind of strong alcohol has cleaning properties, you don't need chlorine.
1 bottle cap of bleech to 1 gallon water will kill it.

Chilling. It took 8 days for Italy to get to 1000 deaths. It's going to take about 14 days to reach 10,000 deaths
