Basically the best excuse is that’s it’s just a regular season award. Which is true but it devalues the ‘Value’ part of the award. At no point is regular season the most valuable anything . It’s fodder to the post season and the most valuable players usually get recognized here.

Nobody on the top 4 teams were MVP level, at all.

Of the guys who were playing at that level, Jokic won the most games...

JJ Redick said he would have voted for Jokic

Both were on the same ESPN show today when they made the remarks. Neither has a vote.

So basically players have different opinions, just like actual voters and fans. Shocker

Former player Ryan Hollins -- I would have voted for Embiid. Said today.
Jokic 31/21/22
Luka & Oscar = 5 x 27/8/8
The Brodie = All-out energy

Yep. I know Gobert has said he would have voted for Jokic.

This can't be true, I was assured by the RealGM experts in this very thread that only stat nerds who have never played basketball may think that Jokic deserves the award.

Honestly, look at these terrible postseason numbers.

If you're going to have twice as many MVPs as Shaq or Kobe I'm gonna hold you to a pretty high standard. Stats aren't enough. Great regular season player

well it is a regular season award. If Giannis/Embiid are so great they can get that finals MVP award.

I mean, people on this very forum argued that Embiid was harder to guard than Shaq and that's why he's fouled so much.

Gobert clamps down Embiid and forces him to shoot 43.6% from the field. In the last 3 years, it's 43%.

Shaq = "Old man shouts at sky" at this point.

As far as Embiid....like I said in another post, when Kevon Looney can give you major problems and hold you in check...you aren't at the same level as the Joker. Sorry.

You mean the dec 2021 game where embiid didn’t play that well But still got 26 points on 16 shots cause golden state tried gimmick zone defense. Double teams whatever they could do. Tried to use up fouls with draymond and looney on embiid. Did we watch the same game? The only time lonely actually tried to guard embiid 1:1 with 8 feet of the basket and no help. Didn’t end up well for looney. Watch the games man. Embiid settles for some stupid mid range so that’s why he shots 7 for 16. But he just decides when he wants to attack or settle depending on what the defense does.

But not many guys can handle embiid 1:1 in the post.

Gobert, Jokic and Adams just to name a couple. Because they have the strength/weight or height to bother embiid. But even Al Horford who has given embiid tons of problems. He cannot handle embiid down low. The help defense has to come. But looney has neither of that.

Hilarious how a few people still consider Jimmy Butler or Devin Booker to be the most valuable players in the league.

As if their teams wouldn't trade them straight-up for Jokic, Giannis, or Embiid.

Take Steps MVPs away? Not a great defender.

What Steph did with his two MVPS were far more revolutionary than what Jokic is doing. Steph's MVPs also resulted in a championship for one of those seasons. Far better than what Jokic was ever able to do.

I only got up to page 11 with your rubbish. Did you notice how literally no one likes your posts? Maybe take that as a hint.

Oh no, I'm so sad, none of the Jokic stans like my post. Lol, it's the internet, I don't lose sleep over a lack of approval from the spreadsheet MVPs fanboys.

There's literally no argument for Embiid over Jokic this season, imo. Record? Stats? Narrative? Nothing.

Yes. The Australian Celtic fan is a Jokic stan. Makes sense.

Maybe you should look at the opinions of people on a basketball forum other than Sixers fans. You're trying to look for confirmation bias from ex players. You've come up with a few as it was a close MVP race, but there are far more saying Jokic was MVP.

Why not just congratulate him and move on? There were 3 guys worthy and Jokic had the slight edge. Nothing to be ashamed about.

That’s great for Joel in the playoffs. Maybe he’ll win Finals MVP.

Great article of how Embiid got robbed of the MVP.
