It's the Kobe fans that did it. When they were good those people just made basketball discussion unbearable. It was so toxic.

Kobe fans are also the biggest detractors of LBJ going to LA. I honestly think a good portion of them may commit mass suicide if LeBron goes to LA. Kobe stans are loyal cultists and their hate is deep.

LMAO! The mental gymnastics are incredible. In no way does Kawhi saying he will only sign with the Lakers hurt them.

Laker hate among casual fans is largely because of their success over so many generations. Laker hate in places like reddit and RealGM IMO has more to do with them trying to steal other teams' stars year after year. You'll notice that no one else in the NBA operates this way. Even Miami attempts to build real teams when free agency isn't a realistic option. Lakers just roll it back and snake oil summer after summer. Stars or bust. Everyone's expendable. Player growth and development seemingly mean nothing to that franchise. I feel bad for all their young players, and their fans really. It's so much more fun to watch your team draft and develop stars.

Edit: is it any wonder Lakers had to have a team meeting last year just to deal with player frustrations over the perception of being expendable with yet another free agency hanging over everything? http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21911979/los-angeles-lakers-hold-team-meeting-place-practice-air-frustrations-thursday

I would much rather have the Heat 2021 unprotected first than 2 bottom of the first round picks from the Lakers. I also would rather have Saric and Covington over Hart and Ingram. Saric had a much better year than Ingram last year. Saric had a great series against Boston even though Celtics won 4-1. Granted Ingram is 20 vs. 24, but just saying I would rather have the Saric, Covington and Heat 1 than Ingram, Hart, and 1 or even 2 bottom of the first round 1's from Lakers. Plus, if things are even, Spurs are sending Leonard East. Lakers have to significantly beat an Eastern teams offer to get a deal done. Ultimately, I think Lakers pull the trigger, and give up much more than Laker fans want, and it will NOT include Deng.

Sixers: We got Saric, Covington and a late 1st.
Spurs: Dave Covington? The guy who did my floors?
Sixers: No Robert. Jay Bilas said he got high upside.
Spurs: Can't hear you. We're about to go through a tunnel. Let me call you back.

I dunno, I'd probably find some way to wedge in that he was the #1 SF in RPM and #1 player overall in DRPM who qualified. I feel like its a top selling point over a couple young guys who are getting by in value based on what they may hypothetically do 3+ years from now

This.

I really don't know how this is going to work out. LA/Kobe fans have absolutely despised LeBron for a decade+ now. And it's no ordinary hate. LA/Kobe fans root harder for LeBron's opponents than they even root for LA. There's not much they aren't willing to do if it's going to result in LeBron being diminished in any way. They are the only fanbase I know of that never, ever criticizes what KD did. Not because they give a crap about KD, but because LeBron losing is all they care about. When GS clinched the title a few weeks ago, this board was filled with LA/Kobe fans gushing endlessly about KD (and it's like that no matter where you go).

I just don't see how they can go from that to ever actually rooting for LeBron. LeBron is the guy who never let Kobe have his day in the late 00's to eventually surpassing him in the 10's. The pain of that won't magically go away simply because LeBron donned a Laker jersey. Nope, I still see the same people continuing to despise LeBron. And for now, I'm sure they're praying he doesn't end up a Laker.

I found him to be foul prone and not on the floor in tight games. And due 47 million over the next 4 years. Different strokes...

Suicide is a very very serious thing and although I know you're just doing it to prove a point, just don't.

This is just basketball, not that serious young man. LEBRON IS NOT WORTH COMMITTING SUICIDE FOR :noway:

Spurs should not trade kawhi, tell him he is not seeing any playing time only if he sign extension, can he afford himself to miss another year for his carrer?! If spurs miss out on kuzma while playing hard ball with kawhi so be it...
