She says that there might be pick swaps involved. That means that the years when the Lakers can't trade a pick (because you can't trade back to back picks) that the Pelicans would have swap rights. Thus....control of 7 years of the Lakers draft.

I see that what had me confused was the fact she said the Pelicans are not interested in next years pick. They never had the option after taking the 4th pick (other then a pick swap as you said)

Weird wording on her part it was like she wasn't aware of the rule.

I can't believe this was the best offer out there.

What do we actually know about Ingram's situation? Any Ingram fans out there that can fill me in?

Is Ball going to whinge the whole time? I kinda like his game if magically he got his shot to fall.

They are not allowed to be without a first round pick in consecutive drafts. Swaps are allowed. However, let's be honest, it's unlikely the Pelicans are going to have a lower pick than the Lakers anytime soon.

That’s what Brooklyn thought.

June 2019: "LeBron will win a ring!!!"

*AD spots up in the corner for the entire season and Lakers don't make the playoffs*

April 2020: "LeBron needs more help!"

Ramona says 7 years. Who knows what years 6 or 7 are like, but yes that's a long time away.

Lonzo's best stretches have been stopped by ankle injuries or calf strains. He's not suited to 45+ mpg of fast paced, ball dominant play. If you can take that pressure away from him, who knows? He might take a lot less beating on his knees/legs/ankles.

.....nobody planning to run 45+mpg

I didn't say he was gonna RUN 45 mpg.....

That’s what Brooklyn thought.

Brooklyn didn't trade for a 26 year old all star. Not remotely the same thing.

Perfect description.

They could have had this any time.

They actually bettered the return. If they traded last season, they probably wouldn’t have the #4 overall.

LAL 100% throw that unprotected pick in IMO if it’s done at the deadline.

They wanted AD and were gonna pay to get him.

But my comment was referring to them taking the deal now as opposed to waiting it out longer. You never know what can happen this summer.

yes, but if the Lakers play it smart with their cap space for year 5 and on they will still have the luxury of having AD and being LA for Free Agents.

LMAO, come on man, even the Warriors became toast when they lost their best player. Name me a team who can lose a top 5 player in the NBA and still be great?

I agree on that, but the chances of injury is higher in their case. Lebron is really old. Yes, he's still very good, but his body has a high chance of failing him.
AD's injury issues are also well documented.
The Warriors were the closest thing to a gurantee you'd ever get, and it didn't work, the Lakers are the favorites to win the 2020 title now, well assuming they had a MAX level backcourt player. Are you not taking that into account? Walker and/or Irving have to be interested.

I think she means that in 2020 it's a draft swap...? Then maybe they get the 2021 pick, then 2022 is another swap, and then 2023 they get that pick. But that only makes it 5 years (including this years #4 pick). Perhaps there would be 2 more swap options after that? Nothing has been confirmed yet so this might all be talk on her part.

I agree that it’s weird they didn’t wait or out longer. What was the post of that? But if they made the deal at last year’s deadline, the Lakers might have been a better team (AD and Lebron would have played through their ‘injuries’) maybe made the playoffs, but definitely netted a worse pick.

These trades never work in a the other teams favor but it's easy the biggest return for a superstar the last couple of years. Lets be real the Butler, George, and Kawhi trades were garbage in comparison.

We have to wait the full details. Romana has said there is 7 year window of picks and pick swaps. That may have been why

Does this mean that the Pelicans are looking to trade #4 for a vet? Or looking to trade around in the draft? Would Atlanta do 8 and 10 for 4? Would the Celtics make a deal to trade up? Any other ideas?
