WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I don't really see this deal being all that bad for the Suns. They can still run and gun. Whenever they need to run, they can just take Shaq out, move Amare to C and play someone like Diaw at PF. Then when they need to slow it down (like in the playoffs), they just put Shaq back in.
The Suns should keep Shaq out until March, then start getting him acclimated to their system and getting him ready for the playoffs. Then only play him around 25 minutes a game after that.
And I'm still stunned that Pat Riley was able to get this kind of value out of Shaq. I have to tip my hat to him.

There was no way that he was going to let this franchise continue to go into the ground and let Wade's legacy/name continue to go downwards. In a way, he did this for the better of keeping Wade. I'd say at least.

It could also been seen as Riley's gift to Shaq by providing him with another chance to win a ring. Riley is thoughtful

Marion can easily opt out next year. No one is really sure if Marion would stay with the heat.
on the Flip side.
Suns really crapped on this. I think they gave up in winning a championship. Because shaq isn't better than Marion at this point. He dosen't play any defense or block shots. I just see them decreasing.

That's the best thing that could happen for the Heat. They'll have a TON of cash to spend this summer if he does and they should have a good pick as well. This is one of the best rebuilding moves they could make.

and there are reports stating Riley in part had to get rid of Shaq because Riley himself does not want to coach anymore. If Riley quit with Shaq on the roster it would be complete hell for Spolestra.
Riley is a selfish bastard and only does things for himself.(getting rid of Stan, leaving the Knicks for more money, pimping Tim Hardaway at the end of his career)

No swingman, true, but it's also the first time he's played alongside a former MVP at prime level (Malone was much-reduced, of course). And he's also got another All-Star big next to him and a host of shooters.
No one's asking Shasq to carry the team, remember, he's not being asked to be The Man, he's being asked to fill a role much like the one he played for the Heat in the Finals against Dallas, only with a bit more emphasis on outlet passing to open up the transition game. Shaq focused on rebouding and passing and was still able to offer some offense because of his efficiency from the floor and the volume of FTs he drew.
The offense doesn't need 20+ ppg from him, they just need him to facilitate and he's great at that.
And what about when Joe Johnson went down with the injury during the Mavs series? Jim Jackson stepped into the starting lineup, leaving Hunter to come off the bench. Detroit would have won that series in 6 game IMO.
