I think Houston is bluffing on the direct D12 rental.. Why would they rent D12 when it's almost a sure thing that he walks? At least Bynum has said he'd be interested in signing there long term.. Bluff to get LA to up the ante & possibly be the team giving up a 1st instead of Houston giving up theirs..

I think the Rockets and Magic are leaking out these rumors of direct talks to get more out of the Lakers in a deal.

Because this whole trend of creating fake twitter accounts to create fake sources as a joke is stupid. People deserve to be correctly informed.
I on the other hand believe that individuals should proceed with caution and investigate their sources before spewing them on RealGM. It's a good exercise of discretion, don't you think?

Houston needs to pull out entirely and not worry about either of them. These big men these days (Howard, Bynum, Cousins, not including Marc Gasol) are all 14 years old mentally and just not worth the messes they bring. They have 3 draft picks to develop, two of which COULD be all stars, a bit of maneuvering to do otherwise but you just can't risk bringing either of these 2 guys in with the risk of them bolting up to the northeast next off-season.
Orlando shouldn't even answer a phone call from Brooklyn anymore until they are can find a way to include either some QUALITY draft picks or QUALITY youth. Any draft picks you get from LA will be useless, expiring's are always coveted and Orlando is one of the small-medium sized market clubs that actually seems to be able to attract free-agents, although they've busted quite a bit recently, they are still getting ink on paper.
Since Dwight has poisoned his trade value and stomped on Orlando's throat by saying he ONLY wants NJ, it cuts out a lot of opportunity Orlando would've otherwise had with organizations like Sacramento, Denver and Milwaukee. Now Hennegan (sp) is in a position where he has NO leverage, but has to sell to other teams that he DOES have some by having BK set the market. He's doing the right thing but he can't let it go on for TOO long. Drag LA/HOU back into the mix, maybe ATL, to keep pressure on BK to continue to and try to locate/improve the assets. I believe BK really wants Dwight and the Lopez negotiations are just their form of leverage.

Just face it, your GM let of of quality players because he's being cheap.
In any straight up deal for Dwight the Rockets are going to have to take back bad contracts from the Magic. Not giving Dragic $8MM or so allows the Rockets to have more flexibility in dealing for Howard. The more bad contracts the take on the less they are likely to have to give up in return. Morey didn't give Dragic the money to maintain flexibility not because he was cheap. It's not his money anyways so what does he care if its spent or not.
Also, the fact that they are on rookie contracts is what makes them so cap friendly.
Imagine you're Dwight Howard.
One team just let go of Lowry and Dragic and stockpile young and unproven players.
The other got Steve freaking Nash.
Which one would you go for?
The fact that they're on rookie contracts mean that their value can't be determined based on their salary, which is the whole point of this argument. Dragic, just like Conly, on 8 million/year is a great deal. Bringing up Ty Lawson on rookie contract when his next extension is probably going to be a near max contract is just purposely being obtuse.

If I was houston and i could get at least Bynum, I would consider that a success!

If the Lakers had a first to give, and that was the last hurdle in consummating a trade, that 1st would have been hand delivered....yesterday.

Lowry wanted out and Dragic wanted his payday/starting spot. If Morey was being cheap, he wouldn't have made those offers to Lin and Asik. Everybody on the Rockets' roster has been expendable ever since Yao retired.
Lowry is a better overall player than Dragic when healthy.
Your franchise couldn't even keep Lowry happy. What chance do you have with Howard?

I'm pretty sure Morey knew that his offer to Lin would be matched, the Asik one still has yet to be decided on, but if i were to bet, the Bulls match it too.

The dumbest thing Morey did was trading Lowry for a pick. Didn't want to pay Dragic 10 million either. So who now is the starting PG?

Dwight Howard has no say in the matter. He goes where Orlando trades him and then the Rockets will try to put talent around him to convince him to stay. If they can't they can trade him at the deadline and probably still get Bynum.

Wasn't Lowy disgruntled though? They may end up getting Howard or bynum for that pick though.

PG is the most talent rich position in the NBA right now, so overpaying a PG, especially on a rebuilding team is incredibly stupid. Phoenix just essentially threw away the next 3 years by doing this and making similar moves. The Toronto pick is likely the lynch pin to make the deal happen.
Aaron Brooks and Ramon Sessions are still unsigned.
