Kadeem Allen made it on the floor as the 6th rookie, but saw sub 1 minute. Plus they had a sophomore playing 34 mins in Jaylen Brown and Rozier, in his third year, playing 36 mins. It was a great day for anyone who loves when the kids get some run. They all played pretty well to boot.

Tatum had a good game (17 points). Ojeleye was strong on D and kept shooting after some early struggles to knock down 2 key threes. Theis is one of those really old rookies (25 years old), but he’s been really strong all season as depth off the bench and is INCREDIBLY cheap ($815k this year). Nader was solid off the bench and almost had a mammoth dunk. Yabusele knocked down a 3 and didn’t look totally lost.

It was just a really nice game to watch as someone who wishes there were more of an occasion to see the young guys from the end of the bench. Nothing to write home about, but definitely fun to watch.

I liked Ojeleye from the draft and was hoping the Laker would pick him up. How is Ojeleye doing overall? He was suppose to be a 3&D guy if I remember correctly. How is he progressing?

He's been a really bright spot from the draft. Tatum overshadows him naturally, but Semi is playing a legit role off the bench for Boston.

That role involves him sitting at the 3 point line the majority of the time on offense, but he's been a very solid and versatile defender thus far. The 3 ball was dropping for him all summer during SL and preseason, but he's been hot and cold all season. He's got a really good stroke and release though, so I think it'll come. He continues to shoot it with confidence even when it's not falling which I think is a great sign (last night he hit 2 down the stretch to keep Boston within striking distance).

If he can get that shot to fall consistently he's going to have a long career as a really good bench 3&D wing. He's already faced up against KD, LeBron, Giannis etc. defensively and held his own for stretches. He's the perfect kind of guy to throw out there with the starting unit. He hustles, plays really strong defense, can switch against a lot of guys, doesn't need the ball and can knock down an open 3.

He's a total steal as a 2nd round pick. I don't think he has the upside to be a starter on a good team, but he's a really good glue guy and I think he's got potential to be a 6th/7th guy for a title team once he matures.

Could someone explain me what the hell anyone see in T.Ferguson? He was awful before draft, he is garbage right now. Horrible pick by Presti, but OKC fans in any trade proposal try evaluate him as mid to late 1st.

Well it looks like Tatum has gotten past the rookie wall. His last 4 games hes averaging 20/4/3 on 52/43/100 shooting and even throughout his offensive struggles last month, he was still playing good defense and still is. And in 3 of those last 4 games there has been no Kyrie.

He's a freak athlete and can sorta shoot. Ferguson is also a physically undeveloped rookie who was picked in the late first round. I don't know what you could reasonably expect him to be other than bad. He probably wasn't expected to play at all this year.

Third best rookie on the team!

Lonzo Ball
Josh Hart
Kuzma
Thomas Bryant

The Lakers really hit a homerun this draft. Lonzo and Hart will be a strong defensive and rebounding point guard duo that leads the league in pace and fast breaks. They should lead the league in rebounding by guards by a wide, wide margin in the future. Kuzma is Kuzma. I hope the Lakers can give more minutes to Bryant because he could be another special talent that can stretch the defense too.

One more point on Hart, he had the most minutes on the team today. He played a tough 39 minutes guarding Westbrook and George at times. He also was money from the outside, shoting 5 for 6 and 2 out of 3 from deep. Love this kids play. He is a strong defender, rebounder and really attacks the rim and knocks down a good number of his shots. Just a smart and dependable player.

Right now, Hart is making KCP and Ennis expendable. He already has taken over all of Ennis' minutes, thank god. Now, Hart is making KCP expendable for next year at rookie salary.

Jesus, I hope Lunkhead Luke has finally gotten over the fascination with Tyler Ennis. A telling moment was during a fluff show on the Lakers' channel where the trainer hyped him up on cam as a top athlete and Ennis actually corrected him by saying, "I'm just an average athlete..." The trainer tried to deny the truth of that by saying, "NO way is he average." Yeah, right. Hart should finally have broken thru scattered/spotty minutes with his recent performances. It's an added bonus that he doesn't have a busted trey as well. Even DFish at the same age was a Hart type in terms of preferring to bull his way to the rim every time. Hopefully, Josh can look to hone that shot and use it more often. He's too unselfish. He has every right to shoot the ball more.

Pope is a disaster. I can't believe some Pistons fans on their forum were saying they were gonna miss him. I wish we can give him back to them.

The "Simmons is not a rookie" argument has been done to death in these threads but I agree that Mitchell has been phenomenal. Arguably he is more impressive than Simmons just in terms of Simmons abilities seem God-given; 6'10" 21 year olds should not be able to do what Simmons can do and he's probably a generational talent. Mitchell is beasting while being an average size etc for a player of his position but still being able to dominate against players who are more physically mature and a lot more experienced than him. So yeah I can understand people thinking Mitchell is more impressive in terms of doing more with less compared to Simmons. If that wins Mitchell ROTY I think that's fair enough if you ask me.

The complaints about it DO have a lot of merit, tho. Julius Randle broke his leg 14 mins into his 1st career game and was called a sophomore the next season while Simmz is classified as a rook because he played 0. C'mon. I think Philly fans are taking the opinion that he's not a rook as a diss to Big Ben, which it's not. He's a great player, but he just happened to have nearly the same exact level of NBA life/travel and professional injury rehabilitation that Randle did. Had Simmons been healthy last year, he takes ROY running away. Being that the NBA has this technical definition of rooks, he's in the running again. Dude's a great player, Philly fan. The Process resulted in two gems, which sucks for me, but I gotta man up and say 'gratz. I'm a Laker fan. I sure as HELL wanted to get that 1st pick in his draft, though Ingram is a good kid and looks to be gradually panning out.

I believe he was listed as questionable for this game, so probably some injuries nagging him. Impressed with the Jazz being able to dominate against a playoff contender with Mitchell essentially being a non-factor on the stat sheet this game.

Mitchell is sick for anyone wondering. Missed last game with the flu and clearly did not look right tonight.

Yes, he obviously should be sent back to the D League.

I do not want GSW to play Utah in the first round, particularly with a healthy Mitchell.

Utah seems a tough opponent for any team regardless of how Mitchell plays.

Hood, Favors, Gobert are all underrated players around here. Now with DM, they really should be a playoff team.

Also 3 steals, but committed 5 turnover. He had a really rough second quarter with 4 tovs. Think it was an alright performance overall.

Josh Hart's been awesome since he's been in the starting lineup.
