essentially what happened to the GSW best players on the back of Curry tearing up the league.

Look forward to 5 years time when everyone calls Giannis some undeserving scrub for playing on a stacked roster.

would be really funny since the narrative has been "no 2nd star, can't compete seriously"

Not really comparable.

Draymond was a consistent DPOY candidate and ranking in the top 5 in impact metrics and was neck and neck with Curry in 2016 in the post-season.

Klay was around Middleton levels.

Then they added a top 3-5 player in Kevin Durant on top of that.

Attempting to draw a comparison makes no sense.

I was thinking the same thing. There were points where I thought Harden was a clear 2nd, others when Lebron was. Never thought Luka or Siakam were at that level plus the games missed are adding up. Each of them have barely played more than Kawhi. AD should have never been a serious candidate despite the Laker hype machine.

It should be unanimous this year for Giannis. And I hate the argument against him being his teammates are playing well. That's an argument in his favor that his teammates can succeed around him. Especially when the same posters use that against him they use the exact opposite against Lebron or Harden.

 Luka has been at that level when healthy.

Luka will have a very real chance next year. He’s just gotta stay on the court!

It certainly starts to look like an unanimous is a possibility though I still wouldn't be surprised to see a LeBron/Harden/Luka secret admirer cast a vote like Washburn did back in 2013.

Regarding the supporting cast, you gotta look at the fact that any unanimous or overwhelmingly convincing MVP winner have great supporting casts. They are either HOF talents, or pieces that fit seamlessly together. You can't have a unanimous MVP winner who averages 45/15/15 while playing with 4 Richard Jeffersons. 15/16 Curry had one of the best teams in the NBA history, 18 Harden idk but him/Paul/Capela went 50-5 together and they still had Tucker off the bench(!). Then you have 19 and 20 Giannis with multiple guys on rookie or vet deals all playing at their career levels. Yet we keep falling for that trap like damn look at your guy's supporting cast and look at my guys'. Well, that's part of the reason why a guy's team is unstoppable which contributes to their other worldly winning record which contributes to him being an unanimous.

It won't be unanimous. Lebron will get at least 10%-20% of the 1st place votes. Within the last Week, I already saw segments on 2 different National Media outlets debating why Lebron should win the MVP.

There is at least a portion of the media that are dying to give Lebron the award. Giannis should win it but won't be unanimous and then Giannis will get robbed for the DPOY award since the media has been pushing the AD for DPOY narrative for just about the entire season.

If it's not unanimous, it will be by <5 votes. I could be wrong here, but I don't think those debate show personalities have MVP votes.

I’ve heard/read some media outlets starting to push the LBJ MVP narrative. They’re starting to talk about voter fatigue, assist leading, supporting cast etc

I honestly don’t understand how voter fatigue is a thing, it’s a myth. The player either deserves it or they don’t. There is no question, Giannis deserves it, unanimously.

Gifting this award to LBJ would be the biggest sham of all time in all sports. Giannis is the unanimous winner.

I sure hope not with Luka. Love the guy and he's having a great year, but he has no case for MVP at all at this point. Missed a number of games and his team just isn't good enough.

Harden's run of subpar games leading into the all-star break take away the obvious guy to steal some 1st place votes. He could still close strong of course and get there.

Lebron is definitely the most likely. He's Lebron James and he's pushed past the point when he not Harden was the most hated superstar in the league. To where he's arguably the most beloved.

I hope it's unanimous just because I don't think any one else has any kind of meaningful case and I hate it when some media guy tries to make a name for himself or herself in these.

I wonder when we'll reach the point where Giannis could go down for the year and still win it. I'm thinking second week of March.

I couldn’t agree more he is even looking good now hitting those mid range jumpers lol
If he keeps adding these and more to his arsenal look out NBA he might push for GOAT one day. But I know he needs the ring but I have that confidence he ain’t stopping to get better till he gets there!

LeBron fans still actually trying to make a case for him? lol

this is Giannis, and should probably be unanimous.
