Nobody's beating this US team but themselves. It's pretty clear these other teams don't have enough. Hope we get to play France so that arena can be a library when punk those Euros as usual in everything.

I wonder if KD could last week one week in Sudan on an average salary in that country.

The irony that out of the 12 players on the roster, it being KD talking about “toughness” is kind of funny.

Tbf, the bench now is much deeper than in 2008.

Redd, Prince and Boozer are much much worse than Embiid, Tatum and Haliburton(the guys who've been DNP'd thus far).

I think you may be missing the point.

Sure.

Watching the Sudan USA game, man I wish the NBA refs were like this. They don't fall for the foul baiting garbage.

This 3x3 women team is really poor with 3 scrubs in the team. Going from Kelsey plum to van lith is a major downgrade to say the least.
As the popularity of wnba grows exponentially, it will be harder and harder for some top wnba players to commit to 3x3.

I think both sides of the Atlantic, American and European basketbal, have a lot to learn from each other. But they don't LOL

Americans only really care about the NBA, as they should, because the NBA is ridiculously succesful, popular and profitable.
And Europeans have created their own little fortress Europa where the coaches are kings, all the top talent leaks to the NBA, basketball organisations make losses, and nothing ever changes. It's basically two isolated worlds that cross over a little bit every 4 years in the Olympics and then forget what they saw almost immediately.

Americans are not gonna change anything as long as the NBA is as tremendously successful as it is currently.

I mean none of the players on the roster live in South Sudan, nor Sudan (they're not Sudanese). They're all either born in an other country to south sudanese parents or were refugees as kids and now live in the US or Australia.

Aside from the money, there is the question of competitiveness. Only until they get hurt (losing the WC, etc) that they actually send the best teams and in recent years, looks like every four years (Olympics) is fine establishing or reestablishing the supposed dominance. So you are correct, the Americans are not changing their playstyle and/or how they compose the teams (though appears this year, they are willing to add role players) until the international teams are consistent threats to the crown.

This part of what I dislike though. While I understand that the best players do not want to participate in the world cup, we should at least aim to build better chemistry for the Olympics. Being familiar with one another and establishing a successful playing concept is almost as important as individual quality. If we placed more importance on it, we would have less of a danger of facing a loss. While the rest of the world has improved dramatically quality wise, we nonetheless have too great of a talent pool available to be struggling the way we do at times.

I'm not talking about the way they compose the teams or competing with the Europeans. There is no competition, the Europeans could become twice as good as the Americans and still they would lose for the simple reason that American States are united as one team and European States aren't, their good players are scettered across 20 different national teams.

I'm talking about the NBA being forced to adopt some of the good aspects of European basketball, like refereeing the game properly like Duffman100 said. It's not gonna happen no matter what happens in the Olympics. The NBA sells really well as it is and therefore it's not going to change, it's a star driven league and the fans pay to see their stars score a million points uninterrupted by such petty details like basketball rules, period.

I don't want to downplay the struggle of people who live in South Sudan, but almost none of the players from South Sudan live there, and around half weren't born there.

Anyway it was just friendly trash talk lol

That's the astounding thing about South Sudan. We are talking about a small country where nobody plays basketball, there are literally no basketball courts, and they put together a team from the tiny fraction of their population that lives elsewhere, and they ended up looking very respectable against Team friggin USA.

Imagine if they actually played.

Point taken. So yeah, while the FIBA/Euro game is faster, some rules are better (goaltend on missed shots, 5 fouls) refs better (maybe, they all know the spread too, and they favor the home/established teams as seen in the France-Japan and Spain-Nigeria games) there is near zero chance the NBA adapts to the FIBA game because simply they don't have to change it. i can see FIBA adapting to the NBA rules if it comes to that. LOL

I've seen some of these games. Honestly, four DeRozan level type of players would clean all these games 21 to nothing.
