2025 NBA PLAYOFFS East Semifinals: #2 Boston Celtics vs #3 New York Knicks (NYK leads 3-2)

The Knicks need to close it out tonight and get ready for the Pacers, which is going to be another tough series.

Though I think this playoffs is wide open, especially if OKC loses, it does feel like the Knicks are a quality player away. One that pushes Hart to the bench.

Maybe a big next to Towns who can spread the floor and help defend the paint, or a guard/wing who can spread the floor while defending the ball handler (currently a role Bridges usually takes on) really letting the Knicks maximize matchups with OG and Bridges.

Won't be easy to find considering the apron rules and lack of resources.

Not a backup big who'd let us start KATman & ROBINson, but it would be nice if we could snag LaRavia with the taxpayer MLE. That would give us a strong top 8 & let Thibs manage our wings' minutes a lot more.

I'm very, very confident the Celtics win the next 2 games. The Celtics have outplayed the Knicks the whole series. Celtics have the focus now. Knicks are in trouble.

Is Tatum the newest member of the Ewing Theory piece?

It is a lost cause but I hate that the Ewing theory is named after Patrick Ewing because the underlying theory accurately describes some pseudo-stars but the player it is named after doesn't deserve it.

Pre-wrist injury the Knicks did worse without Ewing. We have plus minus data for 2 seasons of him prior to the injury and we have the first 2 seasons of his career when he missed substantial time.

If the theory must be named after a knicks it should Melo, who is a massive disappointment by plus/minus and whose lose wasn't felt by Denver.

It is bonkos Simmons loves Melo given that he rips Ewing so much. It really comes down to aesthetics. He found Melo, and Bernard King, fun to watch but not Ewing.

I absolutely agree with you that it shouldn’t be called Ewing theory. Just love poking fun of Simmons and the Celtics anytime I can and when I can do both at the same time… it’s priceless

I've said this in non-Knicks series and I'll say it here fans focus way too much on the refs and not enough on their team's flaws. The Knicks problem in Game 5 was awful play from OG/KAT not the refs. Boston's problem in G1/G2 was being utterly unwilling to adapt their offense when their shooting was off allowing the Knicks back into the game.

The game was close and then the Knicks was in the penalty in with almost 9 minutes left in the third. They gave the Knicks star player 4 defensive fouls in the third and in the end kicked him out of the game cause he got kicked in the nuts. It was ridiculous.

Don’t even get me started on how they swallowed the whistle while Hart was being attacked out there and gave a minimum foul call to Brown just being a dirty player.

It’s what it is, and that game is over, but I don’t see how anyone can think the Celtics are better and more likely to win with Tatum gone based on game 5. Game 5 was an aberration.

As a neutral, i want to see another Game 7 especially between these two storied franchises and rivalry. But that means a danger to the probable Pacers-Knicks East Finals— a storied rivalry of its own!

So… go New York! That NY -2.5 line is so scary (respect to Boston) so just getting Knicks moneyline for this one!
