LeBron will make his way into the conversation sooner or later. If he continues to play like this till the end of the season and Lakers sit top 4 in the West then he deserves it.

I do agree but the Lakers need to get atleast a top 3 seed. With voter sentiment though who knows.

If the lakers need to be top 3 or 4, what about the other candidates?

That's been the entire argument against Jokic's scorching hot start to the season, team record. Sounds like top 4 is a must for ALL MVP candidates right now.

Curry push last year from the 8 spot was endorsed on this board wholeheartedly.

Yup they all do. I don't think Embiid can win unless he can get to the top 4 either. Same with Joker.

I dont see how anyone can have Steph as the frontrunner. Right now i'd take at least three people ahead of him.

Demar
KD
Gianns
Raul

From what I can gather Steph has to be number 1 in the race… something about ‘triple teams’, ‘gravity’ and ‘trust me bro you don’t know what you’re watching’…

On a serious note things are really tightening up, I wonder if Giannis availability could cost him? He’s now missed 9 games, who knows how many more he will sit out in the second half of the season.

Eh. Steph is still posting 26.8 ppg on 59% TS and 6.1 apg on the clear best team in the league and his RAPM is 1st in the league. I understand is someone has Giannis or Jokic for example ahead but it's ridiculous to claim that anyone is far ahead of Steph this season.

I agree in the sense that the elephant in the room is that despite GS having a great record Steph is maybe having his worst all around season since 2014. The only thing really putting him into the discussion is his team's record and his rep as a player. Though you can obviously argue his impact goes beyond his stats.

Steph is playing like ****.

Honestly one of his worst seasons in a while. I don't think he can win MVP this way.

To me its still Durant. Suns don't have anyone with the numbers.

Nuggets are not good enough.

Only other candidate is Giannis. Might be who has the better record.

I just hope with Kyrie back that KD can reduce his minutes and manage his workload (another 40+ minute game today). No need to get fatigued/injured on the back end of the season with Harden and Kyrie to help with the load. He should be around 34-35 minutes a game, not the 37+ he's putting in now.

i agree with you. Curry is not playing good lately, he had some terrible shooting games.. He was a main favorite to start the season because of the GSW record but now after half of the season is over they are tied with Suns, 2 games ahead of Jazz, so i believe if Curry does not improve his shooting percentages, team that wins the East is gonna have the MVP.

Lebron- missed 12 games, bad team record so far
Embiid- missed 12 games, bad team record so far
Jokic- bad record, not likely to be top 3-4 in the west

I doubt Mitchell, Gobert or Booker would win even if their team end up winning the west, they just wont have stats good enough for that.

Horrible loss for Jokic and Denver. No bigs or Ingles for Utah. They started some random big no one heard of no Rudy or Whiteside. Nikola got too used to sonning Rudy that he forgot how to play Utah when hes not there. Utah might consider Gay at the 5 against Denver even when Rudy is healthy since Rudy gets his **** pushed in so much. Jokic is playing great enough where you HAVE to put his name in Mvp convo but theres a miniscule chance of him actually winning barring some insane development like Murray returning next week

Steph Curry is struggling right now, but I won't be surprised if he's still the MVP front runner because he keeps getting let off the hook.

Giannis just missed another game, that's 9 already. He certainly has a stronger MVP case, but how many games can he miss and still win the award? Availability has been one of the factors in the past. The Nuggets are so bad, that they're going to be lucky to get into a play-in at this point which eliminates Jokic from contention. Embiid missed too many games and will likely miss more as well. LeBron missed games plus the Lakers are bad.

So you take into consideration that Steph has been available (only missed 3 games), his team has the best record in the West and his numbers, while not the best, are still solid, he ends up being the front runner by default.
