Germans probably heard of the project "Ticket for Finland to World Cup", and decided to clear the first hurdle ;)

Final Lithuanian NT roster: C Jonas Valančiūnas (6'11", 30 years), F/C Domantas Sabonis (6'11" 26), PF Eigirdas Žukauskas (6'8" 30), PF Mindaugas Kuzminskas (6'9" 32), SF Ignas Brazdeikis (6'7" 23), SF Arnas Butkevičius (6'6" 29), F/G Rokas Giedraitis (6'7" 30), SG Marius Grigonis (6'6" 28), Lukas Lekavičius (6'00" 28), PG Kristupas Žukauskas (6'3" 26), PG Rokas Giedraitis (6'4" 21)

Top losses: Donatas Motiejūnas, Artūras Gudaitis, Edgaras Ulanovas (luckily they all play in already strong positions)

Luka was bad too. Out of shape, arguing with refs all game, cant hit free throws, doesnt play defense.... The whole team was horrible.

Since we are talking about Eurobasket, i think that this tweet is not too irrelevant

That gives me hope that my Lithuania might beat them in the opening game. We all put Slovenia as biggest title contender, they are darling in Euro FIBA right now, that we kinda forget that it is mostly one mans show. These complimentary players do work well with Luka, but just compare third to seventh best players on SLovenian team to same Germany team, Slovenia looks almost garbage.
Luka almost never has a bad game, or even mediocre game, but if he does, anyone could climb this Triglav Mountain team.

I agree with Maksvytis decision to cut Masiulis, I think he was the weakest player left and didnt made much sense to be kept.

I found it funny, that Masiulis could be on pace to shoot 6 trees in a game, but Valanciunas would stand wide open and hesitate or not shoot a 3 at all. It is funny, because there is no way in hell Masiulis is actually better 3 point shooter than Valanciunas, I mean Valanciunas has slower release for sure, and can only shoot while wide open, but it is funny how it is. Jonas is so good in different areas that 3 for him is just an afterthought, even tho if he didnt have those inside strengths of his and was just an Euro scrub ala Masiulis, he is still good enough shooter to be just a Masiulis type stretch big who would just shoot and do nothing else. You know what I mean, I find it weird that wide open Jonas is not encouraged to shoot those, while Masiulis, who basically provides little to nothing else than just shootings 3s on worse finishing rate, is on the same team as Jonas.

Finland did what they were supposed to do. After beating Israel and now Estonia they have a 7-1 record and they're at the top of group J along with Germany. The top 3 teams of each group advance to the World Cup and Israel, the team that is currently 4th in group J, currently has a 3-4 record (they're playing Sweden later tonight) so it would take a collapse of epic proportions for Finland to miss the World Cup. They only need to win 1 more game to ensure their qualification.

I was a big fan of Finland's teams in the mid 2010s and I'm hoping that this newer generation can follow in their footsteps and play some entertaining basketball.

Interesting to see Kuminga as a ballhandler. They got smacked badly though. That fast break dunk was something else.

So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Can't remember when was the last time that Slovenia played like they simply didn't care.

Our team just played horrible today. The difference in hustle compared to that friendly game against Serbia was insane. Germany completely destroyed us with rebounds and gave themselves a ton of 2nd and 3rd chances on offense.

I always enjoy destroying Turkey and Turkish teams. The refs are blind when games are played there.

Thanks for posting the vid, Lambchop!

Here's another from yesterday too.

First game (video below) has his lowlights as well. I didn't find the boxscore, but pretty sure he had a horrible statline, as you can see in the vid he missed lots of shots, had many turnovers, tried iso'ing a lot, etc.

In the 2nd game (post above) he looks a lot better, much more composed and patient while attacking, outside shot doesn't feel rushed, good court vision & ballhandling for his size, that dunk showed he has outlier athleticism for this level of competition. The score though... Congo got smashed.

As of right now, seems like much of the same from last season, based on the eye test. Lots of potential. Lots to mature too.

You can easily see he tries to do too much. From my point of view, first he needs to find his niche, excel in it... then he can expand his game a bit more.

Today, Kuminga's Congo DR plays Tunisia, will probably be a blowout, but it will be interesting to see how Kuminga does.

I would bet on Lithuania in that game. Slovenia is bad, Doncic is not as good as he was the past couple of years, Dragic is more or less done and other players seem to not be in form. Especially Tobey and Blazic are completely out of it.
