But most importantly, for any doubters, they make contact before the elbow. Harden's hand touches Artest's shoulder when he bumps into him. Its clearly a reactionary "Get the F out of my way while I'm celebrating" elbow. Not a "oops..I was elbowing the air and he accidentally got in my path" sort of thing.

I really don't think anyone's arguing if he threw it on purpose or not. Those who are, are delusional.

Harden won't do that sht again though

this is the second time he has brushed up against a player during celebration, this time he did it to an insane person who also happens to be an athlete ... bad move.

I don't see what MWP has done wrong. Harden moved directly in his way after he dunked it.

Studio gangstas and floppers like Harden should get this kind of elbow more often. Really am sick of these youngsters who think they are all tough not getting any swift justice for being chippy and annoying.

He steps on his face, then the foot follows through to his chest. How is it that hard to understand? No one said he stomped his face out, just that he stepped on it.

A step is planting your foot. The planting of the foot happens on Scola's chest. How is that hard to understand.

Possible, but if Harden misses any more time, I expect that Stern will make it so that Artest & OKC won't meet in this year's playoffs, which means a season suspension.

ikidunot wrote: Just admit it, that its because its Ron Artest and y'all can't let it go.

Of course it's because it's Ron. It's not about not letting things go, it's about factoring in prior behavior.

I look at what seems to warrant a season suspension by current NBA standards, then remember that Artest has ALREADY had one of those along with numerous other smaller suspensions, and any temporary suspension just seems pointless.

To me a temporary suspension is the coward's way out. Stern cannot honestly think that such an action will solve the problem, but it could be a way of trying to look tough without actually being tough.

ikidunot wrote:Ron don't even have a huge track record. That Malice in the Palace thing happened years ago(about 8). He wasn't even the biggest fighter in that group. Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal did the most damage.

10+ suspension is completely unheard of as far as I know. If Ron comes back after this, it basically says that the NBA is unwilling to ban players for violence that don't warrant prison time (and anything warranting prison time would mean the NBA wouldn't have to bother banning him).

Ron caused the Malice by going in the stands. End of story.

ikidunot wrote:So yes I believe the ejection was enough punishment. The rulebook says elbow to the head, ejection. It doesn't say anything of having a mandatory suspension.

Rules for minimum suspensions are there so players know to take the rules seriously, not to let guys off the hook from more serious punishments.

ikidunot wrote:Plus OKC players have came out and said good things about Artest basically saying they know he wouldn't intentionally try to hurt anyone.(Perkins and Ibaka said that) I don't think it was intentionally, I think it was an accident and he was caught up in the moment, so therefore he deserved the punishment he got which was an ejection.

OKC players opinions are irrelevant. It would be wrong for the NBA to force players to say "I want this other player to be severely punished for what he did to me." It's the NBA's job to take care of this stuff so that the players don't have to worry about it.

Just apologize, stfu, and take the suspension.

it's like you fire a gun at the crowd and later goes: oops , i was just celebrating my birthday, it's unintentional...

What he did wrong was take a swing fully knowing there was someone there. Not where he hit him. There is no place for that in sports. Hes off by a few inches and he could have caused a very serious injury to harden. A concussion is nothing to laugh about.

They actually said they'd start handing out T's for "air punches". I'm pretty sure this may have had to do with when Pierce clocked an official in the face by accident.

I dont think it was intentional. It was the heat of the moment. But he does deserved a big suspension though. Harden might be out for the start of the playoffs.

**** was comedy though. Was watching with my pops and a few friends. We were all dying.

I agree to an extent. Thunder were playing the fake intimidation act all game long, it probably got to Metta's head so he decided to make a point. However, the blind elbow was completely uncalled for. If he wanted to say something he should have gotten in his face and then do something.

What an idiot. Like anyone's going to buy that. If you actually didn't mean to lay him out, you would have gone to check on him after your elbow slammed into his head. You wouldn't just keep going like nothing happened. See ya next year CrazyRon.
