You left out the 8-21 shooting that all the Mitchell is a chucker posters want to point out.

I guess if Mitchell is a chucker then there's many of them in this league.

He’s not a chucker yet....
But getting close to that category.
Gobert is the main man for the Jazz, since his return they have been exceptional.
8/21 is not good if that’s what your saying, his efficiency of late has been bad.

Mitchell is kind of a chucker. He's a good player, very talented, but his number have to come with a grain of salt since he has a neon green light to chuck away.
But that's also good coaching by Snyder. It's better for the development of your rookies/young players to actually let them play. And that means playing through their mistakes and off nights.
Bad coaching and lack of playing time can turn any lottery pick into a bust.

Simmons had the wide margin lead as roy coming hot right out the gate but has come down quite a bit as teams figured him out while mitchell has been simply outstanding and actually improving throughout the season. It would be a joke if nba gave the roy to simmons due to his early success..its mitchell at this point he deserves it.

The season still has some games to play out. I have no quarrel with Mitchell being rookie of the year if he is the best player at the end of the season which he may well be, but they don't decide it only on mid season games either, and the Sixers have won both games against Utah so far.

Assuming you're ignoring minutes and focusing on just the rest of the raw stats. Here's efficiency:
Simmons in October and November
20 games, 35.4 mpg, 18.7 ppg, 52.5 TS%
13.6 reb%, 32.8 ast%, 3.0 stl%, 1.9 blk%
Simmons since New Years Eve
17 games, 32.6 mpg, 16.5 ppg, 59.5 TS%
10.6 reb%, 34.2 ast%, 2.6 stl%, 2.5 blk%
Simmons is scoring a basket less in 3 less minutes per game while being more efficient and especially scoring more efficiently. He struggled in December which is where this 'figured him out' narrative came from, which is what the rookie wall actually is, but he's clearly adjusted since then.

Not trying to sound smarmy, but I've never seen a 8-21 shooting night as something to brag about.

I don't think he was bragging he was pointing it out before the sheeple point it out. I say let's put more context to the discussion. If you are 8-21 in the paint or on dunks then that is a horrible night. If you are 8-21 on 3pt shots it is pretty good. Overly Mitchell had a below average shooting night, but he was solid defensively (ask Superman).
The discussion on this board about who is better at what, is ridiculous. Simmons and Mitchell play different positions. I would expect Simmons to have a higher FG% because he is playing closer to the basket on average and not launching 3's. I would expect Simmons to out rebound Mitchell. I would expect Mitchell to have a higher 3pt% as he will get more opportunity. Defensive rating Simmons has a slight edge, True Shooting % Mitchell has a slight edge. These are both solid players that any team would love to have.
The true test will be going down the stretch, which team will be able to achieve more because of their rookie. Right now I believe they are both close and each player has grown leaps and bounds throughout the year. Let's see how this race turns out and just enjoy the fact that we have 2 up and coming stars in the league.

Not even close to accurate. Ben has been outstanding the last 3 weeks or so.
He almost had his 6th triple double last night and only played 25 minutes.

Re: The ROTY/Rookie Discussion Thread, Part III
The desire of people to tear down a great young player in order to prop up their own favorites is baffling to me.
I love so many players of this class. I see this draft class as one of the generational classes with multiple players having the potential to be multiple time all-stars and if Fultz somehow remembers how to shoot it can only get better.

Lol the hate on Mitchell. He wasnt spectacular, but he bounced back some considering his terrible few games due to the flu which got like 6 days ago. Regardless we won, so Im happy.

Is Monk the most disappointing rookie this season? I think so.

I wasn't bragging about it. Mitchell is given the green light and somebody needs to shoot it.

I'm unashamedly on board the Simmons bandwagon, but who can lay hate on Mitchell? The kid is a star in the making and is damn exciting to watch.

He's not getting the minutes so clearly the coaching staff don't think he's ready. He's a bit unusual in that most of the rookies coming in had a decent floor game but needed to improve their shooting to be NBA contributors. With Monk its the opposite - he really needs to improve his floor game but his shooting is fine.
I'd say its between he and Isaac for most disappointing, even given Isaac's injury. I'm still really high on both long-term but not a great start to their careers.
