there were never using the #4th pick and if they do this summer right the 2021 is meaningless.
its :
2019 4th
2021 protected 1st
2024 unprotected first
2023 pick swap.

not as bad (outside of the 2024) that people think.

Yeah. The 2023/2024 picks will likely determine who ultimately wins this deal.

2021 will be a pick that's very low. Mid-Late 20's.

The odds are likely in L.A.'s favor.

Add 2025 to it.

Apparently NO managed to get a lot of draft picks from the Lakers.... more than I expected them to give up (esp when you consider the swaps)

It depends on what the rest of the Lakers roster ends up being. The 2023 swap could be bad for LA too.

But it's a trade that they had to do when you consider LeBron's age.

Yep.

By that point, LeBron will have gotten older, AD will have gotten older, and the Lakers will have been running on probably one more star plus a bunch of ring chasers.

If/when something happens to LeBron or AD, those picks end up being really high. Like the picks each time LeBron left Cleveland.

That is a massive haul for the Pelicans. The Billy King special.

well are you assuming they dont sign anyone with the max cap space? if not on a max guy they can spread it around too on decent players that will keep them competitive with AD as he ages

Lakers will probably end up being the winners because the team that gets the star almost always is, but man, Griffin got the Pelicans a hell of a deal. Anyone acting otherwise is crazy. This is more value than any other star brought back.

AD will be 30~32, though, in his prime probably. LeBron will probably be retired by then.

Nice trade for NO. Will be interesting to see what they do with that #4 pick. Too bad they don't have another enticing piece to package it with to go after Beal.

Gonna reserve judgement on the Lakers until I see what they surround LBJ and AD with......Their starting backcourt NEEDS to consist of great 3 pt shooters. IMO, don't think it would be wise for them to blow their remaining 30 mil on one player like Butler or Kemba. They should use the remaining cap space to go after competent 2-way players who can hit the 3 ball at a good clip.

Seems like a win-win to me as of now - don't think the Pels could have gotten a better deal than that one.

and IF big IF lakers land a FA like kyrie or kawhi(just hypothetical) the picks swaps still meaningless. and are we sure NOP is a title contender by then??

as of now the lakers and pelicans both won the trade

the future will really tell us who on the trade.

also nets gave up those picks for KG 37 and PP 36. AD is 26

Finals bound with a 35 year old Lebron and a made of glass, injury prone AD and ZERO depth lmao. I remember when people said that Boogie and AD are finals bound when that trade happened. How'd that work out?

Unless the Lakers make additional moves for an actual PG and add major depth they wont finish higher than 3rd or 4th seed in the West. Their ceiling would be a 2nd round exit or WCF exit.

They have 32 millions in cap and Warriors and Houston are done... Theyre by far the favourites to win the West.

So if Kawhi goes to the Clippers (or even the Lakers) and Toronto doesn’t even make the playoffs......does Drake become a Laker fan next year? I mean he was a Heat fan, Cavs fan, Warriors fan...it would only make sense.
