Pacers have too many young guys. Just like OKC. They can't keep them all.

Yeah, but that’s not the reason to trade Mathurin. It’s because he has one plus skill, drawing contact on drives.

He’s gotten a little better overall in his three years, but not the improvement you want to see from a 6th pick. He’s a black hole on offense, his defensive effort is inconsistent, and he’s just an ok shooter. Also, his attitude isn’t very good.

Getting him high 20’s in minutes in the regular season is easy — he’ll get some buckets and some highlights, and he isn’t a total sieve or anything. But in the playoffs, with game planning, he’s exploitable. He won’t pass. He won’t get as many calls. And you can definitely score on him.

The Pacers have one more year before he has to get paid. My bet is they find some team that sees his 16/5/2 and cashes him out, leaving more minutes for better actual players like the N’s.

He needs development time and yes some maturity. Inconsistency is a sign of lack of maturity. The potential is there. Yeah they need to find out next season what he's about and what to do with him, along with all the other young guys.

To be fair, I do like Mathurin. I do think that he has real scoring potential and I do like his willingness to be physical. I think he can put it all together and that he can give us a different look at times of need.

But I can also see why someone wouldn't like his playing style.

It just doesn't fit the Pacers style of basketball imo, they pass more than any other team in the league, he's like the antithesis of that. Though it is interesting if they strike a balance with him for that when they need it. Not sold on it at all yet.

It's true, he's the one awkward fit on the team. He isn't a selfish guy or anything but he just isn't a natural passer nor does he naturally make quick decisions.

I still love that we have him, don't get me wrong.
