Re: World Championship Power Rankings
USA´s offensive game is still so poor, the worst in the tournament, just based on individual game, if they would play a great colective play they would win alway, but they dont do that so far.
Sorry for my English

Team USA has the worst offense in the whole tournament?
I thought that was France.....at least, that's what I'm being told in the FIBA thread.

Re: World Championship Power Rankings
Argentina d. Brazil 77-73
Argentina: Delfino (23), Prigioni (17), Scola (12, 11 reb)
Brazil: Varejao (14, 12 reb), Machado (13)
I watched most of this game, it was pretty tight throughout. Marcus Vinicius looked good as did Delfino who was splashing 3s from all over. Barbosa wasn't aggressive enough, but I think a full strength Brazilian team is a better team than Argentina. Argentina was without Oberto and Nocioni while Brazil was missing Splitter and Nene.

I love how you guys use one loss in a single elimination tourney as proof that USA was not the favorite. Guess what, the favorite doesn't always win. Spain has one exactly one world basketball tournament ever and you are telling me they are the favorite because the US lost one game in 2006?
The US is held to the impossible standard of winning every game by 40 points. Other programs are regarded as powehouses after winning one time. Team USA still easily has the best roster in this tournament. This team is built for intentional basketball and every player is willing to play their role. 2004 this is not.

I think that 2002 and 2004 has proved that not always the best roster wins..
You need to be the best team. I think that you can't considered US team the best team, when there is Spain with a team that has been playing together for a while, and winning last WC and silver gold medal..
US team has never played together before..
Of course, US might win the WC, but i think it's OK to put Spain above US in a Power Ranking.

Really? Spain had more Fiba Experience than the Redeem Team and they still lost to them two years ago .

The US squad is not full of superstar NBA players, but neither are the other countries. It seems like most top players are not playing for their respective countries. I can see either Spain or US winning the World Championships, but I really hope its the United States.

Indeed your intellect seems to be failing on you.
Serbia lost to Canada with Teodosic playing only 12 minutes (and without Krstic), wich kind of confirms how dependent they are on Milos.
Greece is playing out of its mind. I have never seen this kind of dominance in preparation games coming from a European team. It's probably over Spain's back in 2007. The Greek defense is just outstanding. It will be very interesting to see what happens today against Serbia. It's a style collision, the Greek fast pace against the slow Serbian game. We'll see who wins the rhythm battle (I do think Greece will take the game anyway). I hope Krstic can play: Greece builds its dominance feeding Sofo early on, and so far he's been truly unstoppable.
If Greece trashes Serbia, perhaps it would be the time to update the power rankings...
