i'd say kobe too, but sometimes he can't just win over his need to chuck, there are many to list really

just from top of my head

duncan, gasol, kg, nash, calderon, odom, Deron, kidd, hill

notable mention starting 5 of Sacramento Kings circa 2001-2004

Seriously, if Kobe was half as talented, smart, legendary, athletic, etc... as he is made out to be by some on this site, we wouldn't even call it basketball, it would be KOBE-ball.

Chris Paul or Nash would have my vote for number #1.
Kobe could be argued for when it comes down to best in playoffs.

I would love for it to be D.Rose. Maybe someday! He improves every season. He's middle-of-the pack IQ as far as all-stars at this point in his young career.

I would vote LeBron except for the fact that he takes the worst shot in basketball, where he's like an inch in front of the three point line. He makes it a good amount of the time, but still, it's not a good shot.

Kobe has a great IQ except for the fact that he has questionable shot selection. And LOL @ the guy that is trying to argue that Landry Fields has a higher bball IQ than Kobe.

You know why in the clutch, the ball is always in paul pierce's hands, and they are always looking to get the ball in Ray Allens hands? Because of basketball IQ.

Thats why despite being not being young, athletic or overwhelmingly strong, they are still all star level talent in this league and two of the most clutch players in the game?

You ever see paul pierce down the stretch make his defender commit, draw the contact and get off a shot for the three point play down the stretch. He does it damn near every other game. He always gets either an open look or gets to the line. He never fouls out or gets burned defensively despite often being slower.

And ray allen is almost unguardable. He knows when to move on the floor. He runs people ragged and gets off great looks despite everyone knowing the ball is going to him. He ALWAYS keeps his composure and never panics. All you can hope is that he misses.

These guys are this successful at this stage in their careers at their positions because they have high bball IQs. And that is why the Celtics are one of the best teams in the league with such an old core.

These guys IQ's are so high, that it makes up for the knuckleheads that the celtics have had on the floor for the last few years like nate, davis, tony allen. Collectively, i think the celtics are the best bball IQ team in the league

KOBE BRYANT he knows this game inside and out. He dose not have the body to be a top player in this game and but he has the basketball IQ to stay on top(or close to it).

Kobe Bryant was an athletic freak. He is still a pretty darn good physical specimen. Somehow over the years, especially since LeBron's emergence, Kobe has magically transformed into someone who didn't have the body or athleticism to be as good as he was. He won the Dunk Contest!

Now if you replaced "KOBE BRYANT" with "Steve Nash", this post makes sense.

I think you're attributing to basketball IQ what really should be attributed to, you know, being two of the best shooters in the league (and in Ray's case, one of the best shooters of all time). Not saying they're stupid by any means, but being elite shooters have a lot more to do with the fact that the ball goes in the hoop then their basketball IQ.

Kobe is up there, but this is an area where the MJ comparisons hold him back. I see how much "smarter" he can be because I compare his IQ to MJs.

If he stands alone, yes Kobe has a high bball IQ
