I wouldn't do it....

Dwight is the best center... Top 2-3 player in the league

But come crunch time in the playoffs when you need the baskets. You're not going to him....

Besides... i think Blake Griffin is going to be as good as he is in 1-3 years anyways

They have to anyway if they want him.
That's been established for some time.

established by who?

If we're only discussing FINANCIAL side, it works Bynum for Howard straight up....

Howard Salary for this season 18.7mill
Bynum Salary for this season 15.1 mill (using 125% rule for LA side, it comes $18.93 equivalent)

its value wise that doesn't work

I think one thing people aren't considering is that trading your star player while your team is having success is kind of shady. It might affect players' willingness to sign with an organization with no sense of job security, and other things of that nature. From a purely basketball standpoint, it seems like a no-brainer

You're not going to Dwight because of his free throws, so you go to Griffin instead despite his atrocious free throw shooting?

I can think of many reason to do the trade, but this is not one of them.

You go to Paul, he'll create a shot for himself or someone else. Shaq couldn't hit FTs either but he got 4 rings cause he had help from Kobe and Wade. Plus why wait 2-3 years when you could have the finished product right now with a cp3 that is at the top of game/health

Clippers aren't likely at all to make any sort of in season trade for Dwight. I'm not one that's expecting him to be a Clipper, but if the FO makes something happen, I won't complain.

Besides... i think Blake Griffin is going to be as good as he is in 1-3 years anyways
Blake is great and can easily be an offensive terror, but defensively he just doesn't have the same tools as Dwight Howard. If DJ develops defensively though, and hopefully he does to a good level, then one won't be dreaming of a Dwight Howard as much.

Dwight should stay on his 9-3 team, I don't understand all these stupid TMZ like articles where players are hand-cuffing their owners to trade them to certain teams.

Many reasons...

1) Blake is on a rookie contract and cheap.
2) Blake is guaranteed to be on the Clippers for another 3 years, Dwight isn't.
3) Blake is only 22 years old and likely to improve
4) Blake is the face of the franchise, and the fans love him.

This isn't a video game. You don't trade super star for super star it just doesn't happen.

only reason 1-2 would apply...no matter how much better Griffin gets he wont be the type of defensive force that Howard is and Howard is also getting better each season....Howard could EASILY be the new face of the Clipps, it wont be hard and in most instances, there aren't opportunities where you can trade a franchise guy for another both being in their prime because its HARDLY ever presented itself like this scenario.

What? Only reason is it because of FT shooting? If so, both are horrible FT% shooters, besides...

Dwight Howard plays defense.

Blake Griffin takes acting lessons.

Dwight actually defends when he's on the floor.

Blake just falls on it.

Dwight actually can block shots.

Blake just flops to get refs to call blocking fouls.

This is why Clippers won't do it, which sucks for them because Blake Griffin will never be as good as Dwight.

LOL if anyone takes this seriously.

This is a so called leak to the media to make the Laker's offer better. That's it.

If Dwight really wants out of Orlando because of lack of player respect from the front office, then the Clippers is next to the last place Howard wants to play.

Blake Griffin single-handedly changed the entire culture of the LA Clippers. He's going to be the face of the NBA for the next 15 years. They will NEVER trade him for a phony like Dwight Howard.

Its not even FT's...

I'm talking offensively in general...

Dwight is a great Defensive player...

But you don't want him on the court on the offensive at the end of games.

He's REAL REAL ineffective.... His offense isn't that good

Atleast you had Shaq who had an great offensive game you could rely on if you wanted him to score in the last couple minutes of games. You can't exactly do that with Dwight. He's more there at the end for him offensive rebounding and defense.

What I've seen from Blake Griffin on the offensive end. I'd just much rather have him in the playoffs.... Makes his teammates better with playmaking ability, can shoot anywhere from 20 feet, and he has the handles and can make plays in clutch situations.

Trading Blake for Dwight is a lateral move. Dwight will be traded to the other L.A. team.

Mindboggling to me that anyone thinks trading Blake for Dwight is a lateral move

Look, Blake Griffin is a nice guy and very good player with significant upside, but he will never be as impactful as Dwight Howard.

I can understand the loyalty aspect. But from a purely business and basketball perspective, you pull the trigger.

This garbage of Diva's holding their teams hostage every year is lame. Last year it was Carmela drama all year, now Howard. These guys are attention whores.
