Better than Fishers corpse ..low risk/high reward sign me up

Gil made more lay-up's in this video than Derek Fisher has in his whole career. :-?
In reference to a Picture of Billy Hunter...

But we are not talking about Chalmers here, we are talking about Fisher, who loves to take the ball to the hoop in between 7 footers, likes to pass the ball to the other team, and gets opposing PGs a career night whenever they play against him.
Sure he is clutch, we're not saying ship him out, he would be a solid PG down the stretch making big shots, but as for being a starter...I would take Arenas any day of the week.

Arenas would be a solid pick up for the Lakers, if you do not agree, you obviously have not been watching the Lakers this season and are just talking out of your @$$ saying Fisher is better than Arenas at this point in their careers.

This is what it's come down to ladies and gents. Knicks relying on Baron Davis, and Lakers relying on Gilbert Arenas to save their seasons

Where in here did anyone say "With Arenas we are the favorites to win it!"

All we said is that Arenas is an upgrade over Fisher and we would welcome the vet minimum pick up.

Gil's locker room shenanigans won't be an issue in LA, one strike and he's gone. What does concern me is his ability to you know...PLAY. Dude was GARBAGE last season in Orlando. If he can resurrect himself somewhat the way McGrady did last year in Detroit he'd be a welcome addition, but I don't exactly have the highest of expectations at this point based on what I saw of him last season.

I'd welcome this in a second. Sure he can't play like he used too but the guys from LA for goodness sakes, and he respects Kobe Bryant as much as he does the organization as a whole so I'm sure he'd be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed at whatever role the Lakers ask of him.

I thought it was a known fact that Gilbert is not a PG, more like an undersized SG.

Didn't Arenas state he was going to use this time to try and get healthy? Perhaps he's not healthy yet?

I hope someone from the media posses the question of Arenas to Kobe, I'd be interested to hear his answer.

Boston is another team that I thought should make a phone call to Arenas.

I just don't think he has the athletic ability to be a capable bench player. He relied on a quick first step more so than he did a dependable jumper and the fact his jumper has abandoned him the last three or four years just leads me to believe he doesn't have it.

To be honest, whether or not he goes there or not likely won't matter. He's not going to defend well enough to play a ton of minutes for Mike Brown nor do I believe Gil is keeping himself in tip top NBA-playing shape.

I think Gilbert could be a great addition if he understands his limitations as a basketball player right now, but that is unlikely...

He has always been more trouble than he is worth in my opinion.

Knock yourself out.

I'm just saying that was the behavior of Heat fans with Bibby last season. That he was better than Chalmers. He wasn't.

eh chalmers was actually pretty decent before bibby showed up though. fisher has had negative offensive win shares for most of the season and an eFG% of like 40%. he simply cannot hit a shot to save his life. morris is beyond terrible, really cannot do anything under control to save his life. id be willing to give goudelock a shot, at least he can shoot, but hes been pretty awful too (clipper game aside). worst case scenario arenas is as bad as all of them and gets benched. its not like any of us expect him to be anything other than average, we just want to try something . our situation is more dire than miami last year imo because at least they had 2 guys who could be playmakers. we only have 1, and hes kinda old, and is prone to go into chuck mode once in awhile.

granted, arenas was pretty bad last year, but at least theres that glimmer of hope that he can return to some sort of form. with fisher, there is nothing to return too, and the rookies... well... they play a lot like rookies. this is really all just a stop gap till blake returns as well, as sad as that sounds.

I wouldn't try Arenas.

I'd rather give the minutes to one of the kids till Blake comes back, in hopes that one of them would start feeling more comfortable. Or call-up one of those D-League guys I mentioned.

There's something called "opportunity cost" that those who are saying things like "Lakers have nothing to lose" arent' factoring.

Exactly, and at a veteran minimum salary, you have to take the chance.

If the Dwight trade goes through and you gotta take on Hedo, you amnesty Artest, buy out Fisher, and your good to go.

Arenas/Blake
Kobe/Barnes
Hedo/Caracter
McBobs/Murphy
Dwight/FA

Big name player that doesn't necessarily mesh in with the other players on the team? I like it.
