this guy is the most overhyped player i can remember

sure he can and probably will be good... but when i say good i mean marcus camby... or tyson chandler

larry brown is an IDIOT if he thinks you can put davis on charlotte and that team wins 50 games

the guy is a stick, has no offensive game... and hes in the class of wilt?!?!?!?!

Everyone isnt always sold on the potential # 1 pick. Its true that he does have his weaknesses and question marks, but which player doesnt, coming out of the draft. It'll just depend on him if he will continue to improve. I think he'll be a franchise changer. I see 14ppg and 8rpg as his rookie stats.

What bothers me is everyone is treating him like he's some blue chipper, and he's not. It's sickening how overrated this draft class is.

AD is a special special player. This is an easy one.

He was a McDonalds All-American as a center. He was a guard when he was younger and wasn't recruited by anyone til he had a growth spurt.

He was not an all-american till he grew, but he was a mid major recruit when he was 6'2

You are absolutely right, my apolgies. He grew before his senior year and really blew up. He did have an offer from DePaul and Cleveland State as a 6'2 Junior, but not much to write home about.

I think his offensive game is extremely underrated while his defensive game is extremelly overrated... I think Davis in his prime will be 20/10 player and all nba 1st or 2nd defensive team for years.

In his prime Chrish Bosh with better defensive abilities

Davis should never been in the same sentence or even page that Russell is in.

Right, because Hasheem Thabeet was a 19 year old who had been playing basketball his entire life and hit a late growth spurt changing him from a guard to a big man.

And because Thabeet tore through the tournament like a defensive golden god.

And Thabeet obviously had the same outstanding athleticism and mobility.

And he obviously has the same basketball IQ and motor.

Dwight weighed 240 lbs at the draft combine, that's a fact.

I don't get the Marcus Camby comparision. Camby is not as good defensively, even though he has that reputation. He's quite lazy and often leaves ground to get a block.

Anthony Davis shares the same story as Marcus Camby.

you would think players with this type of background would be GOAT caliber but for some reason its never the case, I could only imagine if a player like Chris Paul grew like half a foot in his adolescence.

There is no way to know, but Davis sure has as much potential as any 1st pick over the last few years.

Is he D-12 or is he Oden? Big men in particular can go either way.

I think he's overrated. His impact won't be greater than a Serge Ibaka.

How does he have no offensive game? I don't pretend to be a college scout but I saw maybe 7-8 Kentucky games last year and he could hit jumpers, hookshot over people, got putbacks, etc.

He seemed almost like a bailout option when the guards couldnt' get a shot off.

Though different situations, Camby did put up 20.5 PPG as a college junior, which is likely something Davis would do if he stayed 2 more seasons. Camby was not always a good rebounder though, even in college, he really improved that coming into the NBA.

If Davis can do all the same defensive and rebounding things, but have a better offensive development / not being so injured early on trajectory he will be nice. Camby put up 14.8 PPG as a rookie, 17.7 pts/36 minutes on .523 TS%. Of course he had injury issues and all, but his scoring rate really didn't recover after his rookie season.
