A source confirms that the Los Angeles Lakers are indeed interested in dealing Andrew Bynum for Dwight Howard. It’s a scenario the Lakers have been working on quietly for some time.

Both sides have concerns, however, as both Howard and Bynum are going into the final years of their contracts. Neither team wants to move their All-Star center for a player who leaves after one season.

Andrew might be more likely to accept an extension but to date, as often reported by HOOPSWORLD, Howard has resisted a move to Los Angeles.

Should the Lakers attain Howard, they would still continue down the path of moving Pau Gasol for depth at a cheaper dollar.

The other team in LA, the Clippers, are about to sign Blake Griffin to an extension and center DeAndre Jordan can block any trade until December. While the Clippers certainly have their eye on the situation and some interest, the organization is moving forward as if they’re out of the discussion.

looks like Lakers still plan to trade Gasol

I hope not. Gasol and Howard would be unstoppable.

so Bynum has to sign the extension right away before Hennigan trades for him?

it is up to LA to pull the trigger, but Dwight will not sign an extension with LA before the trade. if he does sign an extension, it will be at mid season, or after the season, or he will hit free agency.

David Stern is a bigger heel than Vince I'd say.

Why is everyone worried about Howard re-signing again? The Nets can't sign him. Where is he gonna dart the LAKERS for? Seriously.

Dallas. His number 2 team. Or his hometown Atlanta.

Not to mention that bunch of teams are going to try and free up cap space next summer to try and sign him.

Was gonna say this, but I don't think he would leave LA either unless there really is some bad blood we don't know about.. then again the bad blood can't be that mutual if LA is willing to make the trade.

If you're Dwight Howard money is the least of your concerns.

Ya thats why he always wanted to Brooklyn and ruled out the Warriors, OKC, CHI and the likes.

It is all about the money. You even argued that Deron would stay because he would earn so much more money.

Maybe you should stop making the Nets fanbase look bad.

You comment on everything and always spin it the way that Brooklyn looks good.

"The Magic are stupid and should realize that noone can top the Nets offers"

"The Lakers certainly will not give up Bynum"

"Bynum would not resign with the Magic"

"Dwight wants Brooklyn and Brooklyn only"

"Lakers would be stupid because he certainly would bolt to Dallas and Atlanta"

Really dude?

Give it a rest. You are not the Nets pr guy and you certainly will not do anything to influence the outcome.

@O_Magic11: Bynum was already taken care of. This is an easy deal to make.

@O_Magic11: Bynum would LOVE to come to Orlando. He's ready to be out of LA.
