Mayo is playing great right now, but I still think Harden is better and will show it in the long run. I don't think you can count on shooting over 50% from 3 for the whole season, Harden's play style if much more sustainable.

How come there wasn't a lilbengordon making threads back then? Because OJ Mayo is doing nothing that we haven't already seen from Ben Gordon from his Chicago days.

I doubt his 50+% from three will last. It's just funny because I thought his offensive peak numbers wise was Ben Gordonesque.

Mayo had a great game tonight and it will be fun to watch this Mavs team when they are healthy.

But people would seriously pick Mayo over Harden? Keep in mind Harden is playing with nobodies.

The mistake is thinking in per-game terms, though.

Last year, Harden was at .587 FTA/FGA. This season, he's at .549.

His rate has actually declined, he's just using more possessions per game, so you're seeing an increase in the raw, per-game stat because it hasn't declined too sharply (it's still a highly elite rate) and his FGA/g have increased by 70% or so.

All I'm gunna say is that statlines like this make me wish the trade between Boston and Memphis last year didnt fall through.

Uh, more minutes and a bigger role? And per36 it's only a 1.6 increase, furthering my point.

^He has a few moves in that video where he finishes at the rim pretty well. He can definitely get there...despite being a jumpshooter. He really is fun to watch...this season it looks like he's in a zone 24/7. I don't think what he is doing is sustainable, but at the same time I definitely can't see him dipping lower than 44-45% from three, which is still insane.

How many players have shot better from the three point line than their overall percent? That's crazy...and his overall FG is pretty good too at 48%, it isn't like he's a three point specialist that can't do anything else.

Lilojmayo...what do you think are OJ's peak stats?

On average, he takes more possessions to get the same number of points than Mayo

People saying Mayo's stats will decline when Dirk comes back when in fact the exact opposite will happen. Did anybody watch Jason Terry the past 6 years? His stats were inflated because he was the 2nd option next to someone who literally forces double teams almost every time he touches the ball. JET was never as good as he was made out to be.

His head was clearly not in the game when in Memphis, as he was benched for a better defender....and is now proving in Dallas that he can be an elite defender...something Harden has not proven.

The only aspect of the game where Harden excels more than Mayo is getting into the paint and distributing. While the is very important, Mayo can do a bit of everything and is more of the total package on both ends. He completely shut Harden down in the 4th quarter while they were playing a match up zone ( where mayo is the only one playing man to man, and matching up against Harden)

Harden is quickly gaining the rep as one of the biggest floppers in the league
