I am sad that some folks can't see that.

Ex. = 1990 was not a year from the "80s."

Beardman wrote:2005, 2006 ? Shaq was the premier talent in those years ? ....k

Shaq was 2nd in MVP voting in 2005 and considered the best player on a team that practically made the Finals.
In 2006 Shaq was still a Top 10 player and the best C in the league.

2006 NBA Finals statistics

Shaq averaged 20 / 10 / 2bpg on 61% shooting prior to the Finals while still being the main focus of opposing defenses and getting heavily double teamed.

In the Finals Shaq averaged 17 / 13 / 3apg on 69% shooting in the first 3 wins against Dallas so while you may like to think he was a non-factor in that series its the exact opposite.

That's an oxymoron, a decade is 10 years. Just like how a century mark doesn't end on the 99th year.

You're better off just saying 2000's era and tail it off at 09' if you want to exclude Kobe's 2010 entry, but if you're arguing decade then you gotta include 2010.

A century does end after the the 100th year and a new one begins just like how a decade ends after the 10th year and a new one begins.

1900 - 1999 = 100 years.
2000 - 2009 = 10 years.
When 2009 is finished 2010 (a new decade) begins.

I would say the start of the decade started in the 2000-2001 season, therefore Shaq and Kobe both had 2 titles as the #1 option.

I would say Kobe, Duncan, and Shaq in order of player of the decade. It's a completely different case when it comes to career and all-time though.

Very surprised by this for some reason whenever I hear Wade speak about Kobe its never in an alltime praise kind of way.

True, but then look at these two headlines and stories and it might make more sense why Wade said what he said:

"Dwyane Wade Dumps Jordan for Chinese Shoe Brand" (Oct 2012)
http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/10/15/ ... hoe-brand/

"Kobe Bryant is kind of popular in China" (Aug 2012)
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-o ... r-in-china

Here's the picture from the Kobe article:

It is my understanding that Kobe is still the most popular NBA player in China, even over LeBron. And that could be true for all of Asia.

Let's see: I have a new shoe line I'm pitching in Asia. How might I try to make myself -- and by extension my shoe brand -- a bit more attractive to the customers over there? I know, I will suck up to the most popular guy in my sport among those customers.

This happens all the time. A great example of it was when Kobe went to the Philippines and said that he thought Pacquiao would beat Mayweather in a boxing match.

The answer might have been different had Kobe been asked the question in the USA.

Then you also believe the 80's decade ended in 1990 which is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

80's = 1980-1989
90's = 1990-1999
00's = 2000-2009

if you count from 1-10, there are ten numbers. if you count from 0-9, there are ten numbers. if you count from 0-10, there are eleven numbers.

Look at it this way, if a player enters the league in 2000 and retires in 2009, has he been in the league 10 years ?
