How is Hammond going to overpay Jennings when the market for his services is nearly dead? Who is going to offer him a contract at this point if Atlanta matches for Teague?

Hammond himself? Just from I've read, Jennings wants 12M and the Bucks are willing to go 10-11M. I was always under the impression that Jennings means a lot to the franchise (or at least your team management). So maybe they want to avoid him taking the QO?

If Jennings meant a lot to the Bucks we wouldn't have given this offer to Teague. That should be obvious.

If they were really willing to pay Jennings that much money he would have been signed yesterday since no one has shown any interest in him as a free agent. The Bucks are definitely not willing to pay Jennings that type of money.

When does Ferry have to match by? This evening or has the time already passed by?

Signed the offer sheet on the 10th, today lists Teague as signing a 4 year contract.

This is one of the rare times I agree with tcorbin. Atlanta has a lot of potential in major sports other than Basketball and the Packers are legit NFL contenders

I live in Atlanta not from here. But everybody loves the Braves, Falcons and Bulldogs but nobody ever talks about the Hawks.

The fanbase is tired of seeing the team be run by incompetent people. Rick Sund and Billy Knight have screwed us over to many times. We should have had some combo of Paul, D Will, Roy, Gay, Iggy, or Deng; Even though JJ isn't an issue anymore, we were on the hook for him(which crippled our future); and we never hired a really legit coach. I liked Woody, but even he had some flaws, and Drew really didn't need to take over this team. He's was better as an assistant.

At least the Braves and Falcons put a quality team on the field every year just about. We had the 90's Braves to cheer on, the Falcons always had big name guys like Deion and Vick, and recently had built one of the best teams in the league. Heck the Braves went out and brought in the Upton brothers(one of which is an MVP candidate). The Hawks are just meh. Bad management basically. I still love them though..

Just feel lucky you live in place that has 3 sports teams. also feel lucky that 1 of the 3 is a contender. it would actually be weird if you lived in a city with all three sports teams legit contenders.

the Hawks missed out on Chris Paul, no excuse for that, but anyway, the Hawks still put up a top 4 team in the east for the last 7 years.

it is funny how when basketball season comes around, everybody talks about how horrible Atlanta is, but then on sundays, and they talk about the Falcons, they can't stop talking about how great Atlanta and Georgia is.

like in the 80s, when then Mavs sucked, they made Dallas sounds so bad, but the Cowboys were a great team and Dallas is a great place. sames goes for Elway and the Broncos, and those really bad Nugget teams.

Living in Atlanta. This is a Baseball, Football state. The Bulldogs, Braves and Falcons are HUGE here. The hawks have all ways been left in the background. It's funny tho, every hawks game I've been too. There is always more fans for the guest team then there is for the Hawks. For example the Bulls and Heat games stand out to me the most. It's crazy!

But yea I was talking to a friend and he told me the Hawks need a "Star". In recent memory they haven't had that "star" player. They've had good players but not stars. They have just been a good treadmill team. This upcoming season is a really good opportunity to land a star by tanking or doing worse then past seasons and getting a top pick. But it looks like there just going to be another lower seed team in he playoffs or team looking in from outside..

Come on now. That is not true in the least bit. I live in Alabama and I go to Atlanta about 4 times a year for games. If you go to a game against a team like the Lakers, Heat, or Bulls then you will definitely see a good bit of "fans" from those teams, but to say there are more than Atlanta fans is ridiculous. You just notice them a lot more. I went to a Heat game in Atlanta just this past year and even then Atlanta outnumbered them significantly. You are just trying to bash Atlanta by saying there are more fans for the opposing team. Come on man...

Teague is not that young and he's maybe the 25th best PG in the NBA. This kind of deal kills you. Signing an average player to 50% of a max contract.

I don't know about that. Players I would definitely take over him:

1. Paul
2. Rose
3. Parker
4. Westbrook
5. Curry
6. Williams
7. Rondo
8. Irving
9 Lawson
10. Conley
11. Holliday
12. Lillard

I think those are the guys I'd take over him and then put him right in the next 2 or 3. Meaning he's a top 15 point guard and all of those guys make more money aside from the dudes still on rookie deals.

He's underrated and that's a good deal because he can still get better and if he doesn't that's fair value for his production and the coach trusts him.
Go Knicks!

Didn't imagine them letting him walk for absolutely nothing... Decent point guards are way to valuable in this league...

I like the move by Ferry. Get a mentor for Schroder for a year or 2 and then use Teague as a trade chip and trade Korver. Start fresh in 2 years with cap space and a developed Schroder/Nogueiro.
