A parent's responsibility is to their child, not to the other parent. The custodial parent should get money to spend on care for the child only, that is the only non-custodial parent's responsibility. Being a custodial parent doesn't make you not financially responsible for yourself, that's an absurd suggestion.

Except for the fact that taking care of a child is a massive time sink/time investment in itself.... Its not an absurd suggestion. It is a reasonable one and how things actually work in the real world. Sorry to burst your bubble.

That's the responsibility the custodial parent assumes when they take on custody. A parent isn't a paid babysitter for their own child. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're wrong.

If the custodial parent has to pay for child care (daycare, nanny, etc) while they're at work, that amount is considered when the child support amount is calculated.

The amount of time each parent has the child for is also considered when the child support payment is calculated. If the non-custodial parent initially has the child 3 days/week, and then later changes that to 1 day/week, their child support payment is going to go up. This is to reflect the additional burden placed on the custodial parent - eg, the custodial parent now has to feed the child 6 days/week instead of the previous 4 days/week.

I can't believe the Barry's haven't been brought up here. Aren't they the ultimate NBAs father-son(s) example?
Father:
Rick Barry (top 50 All-Time, 75 Finals MVP, 1x Champion (75), 12x NBA/ABA All-Star, 9x All-NBA/ABA First Team)
Ons:
Scooter Barry (played 17 years pro-ball, mostly CBA & Europe)
Jon Barry (14 year NBA journeyman)
Brent Barry (14 year NBA career, 2x Champion (05, 07), All-Rookie 2nd team, 96 Slam Dunk winner)
Drew Barry (7 year pro with stints at Hawks, Sonics & Warriors)
Canyon Barry (starting college next year, Charleston)

Even though none replicated Rick's achievements Brent & Jon had long NBA careers, plus Scooter & Drew made careers from the game.

Any member of Jordan "Jimmy Graham" Cameron's family can do whatever the heck they want to right now as long as he keeps up his god mode for my fantasy teams.
