What about Ed Davis? He would be a pretty nice big from the bench imo. Especially if he earns around 3-4M

oh yea and him

Nick young despite what people say about FG percentage is a good shooter and a good scorer from day one. He just takes questionable contested shots and he is what he is. on the game winner kobe said he had more confidence in nick getting that shot in contested than uncontested.

but I won't argue about stats or that stuff. He is what he is. A good scorer. I get hella surprised when he rebounds or assists. but it's like you accept that's his game. It was kinda funny when he said he hoped to be the one to assist on the shot that kobe makes to pass jordan..The coach laughed when he heard that. That in a nutshell is nick young. Overall he's always been always good dude. as much as people say the swag thing is an ego thing. I think it's more a trolling thing. And if you ask wizards fans and Philly fans this kid just loves the game of basketball and he always wanted to be a laker and play with kobe. he's living his dream and i won't bitch and complain that he doesn't pass the ball or rebound cause that we already know. But id play him cause he's he's a scorer with good size who can play man d. ( when he feels like it) so like he said we need to tell kobe to pass him the ball more or its gonna be another shaq and Kobe or kobe and Dwight

but I'm sure kobe likes him. Just like he was Arenas small brother

Anyone in the league can be a good scorer on horrible efficiency. I know people that party with the dude, this is how he is, and for some reason he loves to portray himself as unintelligent.

Straight LOL at saying "who can play man d".

Polarising player; I'm certainly in the "not a fan" camp though.

What does he do that is actually funny?

OP should add a poll.

The whole swag generation is so lame. Nick Young isn't nearly relevant enough for me to love or hate.

He is great on a losing team. He adds entertainment that gets you through to long season a losing.

Trust me. Been there. Done that.

+1 on this. the league needs some out-there personalities - your Rodmans, your Panda Express (or whatever Artest is going by now), etc. and what better fit than on a historically bad Lakers team? I remember when the Blazers hit rock bottom rebuilding. they had Juan Dixon at shooting guard. how fun was watching him brick ten shots in the first half, give a halftime interview "shooting is a little bit off tonight", then brick another ten shots in the second half? outside of a drinking game, zero entertainment value.

that said, I wouldn't want *my* playoff contending team going after him.

Never cared much for the dude: he doesn't understand winning basketball, doesn't do the little things to help his teams and teammates, and overall seems more concerned with improving his hairstyle than his quality of play.

There's one way you can make him a net positive on the court, and that's doing what the Clippers did: force him to be a spot up shooter and play defense for his minutes.

Unfortunately that takes away his greatest "strength," which is on ball shot creation. But when you allow him to do that, he pounds the rock for 24 secs, launches long twos, and his defense goes to crap.

It wouldn't bother me if he was just a scorer a la Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, etc..., but the dude has incredible physical gifts and all the talent in the world. He could be a really special ball player with the right mentality, instead he's content being League Clown, takes pride in it even.

No thanks, hope he never finds his way to my team.

I'm in the "IDC" bandwagon.

He isn't that much relevant as a basketball player in this league. He isn't a blasphemy to the game of basketball as some might say.

He's a goofy dude saying stupid/funny stuff. Highlights for Shaqtin' a fool and some good laugh/lighthearted talk.

Nothing more nothing less.

I don't understand the principle of this thread. Nick Young is a moron. Yeah, I'm sure he'd be a cool dude to hang out with because he's a colorful personality, but he embodies just about everything which is wrong about playing the game of basketball. He's athletic, he can shoot, and he's JR Smith-level stupid on the court.

I don't think that's anything special at all, since he's tantamount to a titanic waste of talent...

Young is the x-factor on the Lakers team. He is a risk, but he's a better risk than Kobe right now. I don't care if Kobe fans are up in arms about it, Young has performed better as a shooter than Kobe.

He does make a lot of boneheaded moves like leading a 3 on 1 fast break only to shoot 3 pointers, hopefully he'll stop imitating Kobe and play more like Kawhi.
* Since 1985, Jeremy Lin became one of 15 players to have scored at least 20 points, seven assists and a steal for six games in a row, including 136 points in 5 starts beating out Iverson, Jordan and O'Neal :D

Better risk than Kobe... a rich man's Kobe

Good how all these Kobe fans realize to "take a back seat" and give praise to our boy Nicholas Young
