LeBron viciously assaults Spo.

LeBron pushes Blatt out the door.

Bosh kept asking for the ball so LeBron gives it to him.

The Spo Lebron thing blown way out of proportion. 2011 the Heat tried to be traditional and I think it cost them at first so roles not defined and ultimately they lost to Dallas just as I thought they hit their stride. After that Spo used him a PF and creatively used small ball to win two rings. Blatt the great coach yall are proclaiming still does not have a job. I think Ty should have gotten the Cavs job anyway and it worked out that way. By the way they won a ring.

David Blatt wasn't respected by anyone in the Cavs' locker room. There were reports of Kyrie calling him an "NBA virgin" after his first win with the Cavs, even though he had a long coaching career elsewhere. Veteran players were complaining constantly about their playing time and role. And Blatt never did anything to win their respect. He showed up to practice late, dumped most of his job on Lue, and did stupid things like almost pulling a Chris Webber down the stretch of a playoff game. Lue, for all his faults, was the one who actually commanded the players' respect and was already doing most of the work, which is why he was given the nod to replace Blatt. The fact that this is all blamed on LeBron is just a tired old anti-LeBron narrative.

I'm not sure about the tension with Spo in 2011, but he did a horrible coaching job that year. To his credit, unlike many coaches *coughDocRiverscough* he learned from his team's failure and radically changed the system he was running for 2012. He's become a really good coach.

Looking for a Phil or a Pop or a Riley or even a Chuck Daly.

Spoelstra is the closest thing, and although he's a great coach in his own right, he's still no Phil, Pop, Riley or Daly.

Right

And I like Spoelstra but this whole LeBron the "coach killer" thing is crazy.

Every GOAT caliber player is probably difficult to coach at some point except for Duncan.

LeBron's just the only one to not have an elite level coach.

Joel Anthony started 50 of the 66 games in 2012, so Spo definitely did not use LeBron as a PF then. In the 2012 playoffs, Bosh got injured in game 1 against the Pacers. In game 2 they started Ronny Turiaf and Udonis Hslem and lost; definitely not a small ball lineup there. So it took two full years and trying (and failing) with every other combination of players for Spoelstra to finally figure out that small ball might be good.

When looking at past 20 years of championship coaches, Spoelstra sticks out like a sore thumb. His ideal situation is something like this year, where he can get a bunch of nobodies to play hard on defense. Lue will most likely be regarded in the same way but right now has no non-LeBron track record we can look to. One area I'd give Lue a significant edge over Spo is in lineup usage; Lue recognizes that LeBron is functionally a point guard and will surround him with wings when Kyrie is out, whereas Spo would always be bound by tradition to run a garbage point guard like Norris Cole alongside LeBron.
