He said what any player would say. Is he going to admit that Luka is levels above him as a player? No.

That being said, he is nowhere near as good as Luka and I would wager the house that he never will be. Doncic has an outside shot of being a legit #1 option on a contender type player. Trae doesnt have that projection in even the most ideal developmental path IMO.

He just doesn't have the body or physique to ever not be a liability on D. Coupled with not being an elite shooter, I just don't see his ceiling as more than a better passing Lou Williams or better passing but can't get to the line as well I.T. That's a good player...a borderline all-star. But Luka has an MVP ceiling. I'll bet anyone on this forum, at 10 to 1 odds, Trae never wins an MVP.

He's not a defensive liability anymore. He just isn't ever going to be a defensive stud. He moves his feet well on defense and communicates extremely well for a rookie but since you don't watch the Hawks and give your life to your god Luka, you will never see that.

Keep that same energy when he does or wins titles.

No matter what you think about a particular fanbase, you are not allowed to advocate for them being blocked. As annoying as certain posters may be, you're only making things worse by antagonizing them. If you have a problem with a particular poster, report the troublesome post and do not engage said poster further.

Why? Because he went through a REALLY bad stretch after his first 8 games or so? Hit the rookie wall like a lot of rookies do...especially rookie PG’s.

Check his efficiency recently. I see no reason to see why he can’t become an efficient player as he keeps improving.

Check his efficiency recently. I see no reason to see why he can’t become an efficient player as he keeps improving.

Can he improve? Sure. I just don’t see it.

He is at 40% which to me is like the .200 “Mendoza line” in baseball. It’s the minimum expectation of a pro basketball player.

He wasn’t much better in college- 42%.

Guys can make a jump- I’m looking at De’Aaron Fox going from low 40’s to high 40’s. But I don’t see it with Trae because he takes horrendous shots. He is also much less gifted athletically than Fox.

This is all opinion based. But I’ve been watching NBA long enough to go with my eyes and my gut. And what I see is an undersized inefficient chucker who doesn’t play defense.

He shot selection has improved already in his rookie year. Last 21 games:

17.5 points, 7.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds on 45/37/83 in only around 30 mpg.

It took him a little while to adjust but he’s looked way more like a future star than an inefficient chucker. There’s a reason the Hawks have been playing a lot better recently.....

McCollum didn’t start becoming a lower tier All-Star until 24. Trae is way ahead of him at 20 years old.
Maybe Trae only becomes a lower tier all star but he easily has a higher ceiling than CJ.

Don't get the hate in this thread. Trae and the Hawks have been playing great as of late and beat the Clips last night.. there is good reason to believe a 19 year old rookie will grow and the guy has great potential. Luka is solid but has professional experience, meaning his growth might not be as extreme as others.
