He’s only 26 and has been among the most prolific scorers in the league this season. Let’s just see how it looks, third options don’t get much better than him and he has a complimentary skill set.

Ok i get the logic, still a bad deal from the Clippers though. This is basically Landry Shamet and 2 firsts (the 2020 first won't even be good, that 2021 first probably is top 10 i'll admit) for their best player by far. I know the plan is to go get 2 max guys and they probably do that but they could fail that (Kawhi is comfortable in Toronto, everyone will want KD, Klay most likely stays, Butler could end up staying, Kyrie could stay or go elsewhere), then what, you gave up Tobias Harris for nothing. This is basically what the Knicks did but even they prompted and told that KP wouldn't resign.

For the 76ers, they add another piece to the championship puzzle and didn't even give up anyone of value. I don't see how this isn't a win for them.

No, they gave up Tobias Harris for picks and a young player, not nothing. If they don't land anybody, they also have cap space that can be rented out for more picks. You play a year in the lottery land a pick that doesn't go to Boston and try again the year after. If you aren't comfortable building long term with Tobias Harris as a max player, then this is an absolute no brainer. Hell, they just signed Blake and ended up having to flip him a few months later, because they weren't comfortable long term. It made them look kind of bad. Why not skip that step and do it now.

I mean i agree that Tobias isn't a max player but is this it? basically this is a dime to the dollar in terms of return. I agree they shouldn't have agreed to what Harris wanted but 5/100 wouldn't have been bad and again, like the knicks, they're basically gambling on the fact that they land a F.A (i'd know this, the lakers have been doing this hoping and praying for F.A's to come for years, it really isn't that easy).

Now obviously, if they can lure their 2 max F.A's, than this is a win.

I would have thought that if they wanted to deal anyone to clear up cap, it would be to cash up on Gallinari and trade him for expirings.

Well Philly cashed in again and now they're about to lock themselves into the team they have. I'm not sure I would have given up so much for Harris, but both this and the Butler trade shows that Philly's front office doesn't think they can land anyone in free agency, so I don't hate it.

Doesn’t have the value that a 2022 would though as its 1 year before the super draft or high school and college players.

First thoughts are that it makes Philly scary good especially after they pick up a solid buyout vet or two, but it's also a crazy amount of value for an expiring. I suppose if they feel confident they can bring back both him and Jimmy it's fine.

Bigger question..is LAC going all in on AD now? Because SGA + four 1sts including that 2021 Miami unprotected is a serious offer.
