And I had no idea this was such a thing. At the combine, some players refuse measurements or back out of it because it might affect their stock. But with players already in the NBA, what is the big deal and inch either way? And since players play with shoes, why is without the desired detail? As others have said, I think age is far more instructive in terms of peak years, contracts, etc.
It doesn't. Its the NBA trying to APPEAR open and transparent to get a piece of gambling revenue. Its a song and dance.
Ok, but I still don't get what or how this affects gambling? Like is it a prerequisite for it being allowed? It's not like suddenly teams are going to get another guy out against a known opponent because of the new measurements. Boxing, I understand. But this info doesn't affect the basketball game, so I don't see the connection to gambling...
Would kinda be like if you were told at blackjack they use 7 decks and it turns out it was 7 decks plus 1 random card but they never disclosed it. You could likely get a class action lawsuit over it just because technically you were lied too even though, it really didn't make a difference.
But see my last point to metrics that ARE used by gamblers and could possibly be refined better with this.
