Someone brought up McGrady, just shows first ballot is meaningless. Never won anything, never got past the first round, just 7 All Star appearances. Why get beat up about it? He'll get in eventually.

McGrady was deserving of being a first ballot hall of famer. So what if his teams never made it out of the first round. He was one of the top players in the league for several years.

In next year's class the only lock is Paul Pierce. I believe Bosh will probably get in too, maybe Webber also!

I'd argue that Big Ben and Webber have a case before Bosh.

"Just now?"

He's just now eligible, along with Kobe and Duncan.

And I see people talking about this, but Chris Bosh was not going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer when Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett were on the ballot. There were clearly multiple players up for eligibility overshadowing him who were flat-out better, and slam dunk first ballot inductees.

So he won't get in on the first ballot. No one remembers how long it took for Hall of Famers to become Hall of Famers anyway.
I remember your posts from the RPOY project, you consistently brought it. Please continue to do so, sir. This board needs guys like you to counteract ... worthless posters

I agree Bosh isnt a first ballot. But lets say if Duncan Kobe and Garnett retired in 2017 instead of 2016. I still dont believe Bosh would get in on first ballot for this year because he wasnt first ballot calibur. Not because of others that can overshadow him.

Let's put this Bosh vs. McGrady thing to bed.

Chris Bosh All-League Honors:
2003-04 All-Rookie (1st)
2006-07 All-NBA (2nd)

Tracy McGrady All-League Honors:
2000-01 All-NBA (2nd)
2001-02 All-NBA (1st)
2002-03 All-NBA (1st)
2003-04 All-NBA (2nd)
2004-05 All-NBA (3rd)
2006-07 All-NBA (2nd)
2007-08 All-NBA (3rd)

Chris Bosh MVP Award Shares:
2006-07 0.033 (7)
2009-10 0.001 (12)

Tracy McGrady MVP Award Shares:
2000-01 0.052 (6)
2001-02 0.310 (4)
2002-03 0.359 (4)
2004-05 0.035 (7)
2006-07 0.015 (8)
2007-08 0.001 (12)

Guys, it's not close.

Comparing Bosh to McGrady is dumb. Compare Bosh to Webber or Ben Wallace. McGrady was on an entire other level.

Bosh is @ 99.51%, and Chris Webber is @ 14.62%. They shouldn't even be in the same conversation.

This. Would probably take Amar'e over Webber too.

... and I'd take them all over Vlade Divac and Dino Radja.

It's a basketball hall of fame, not an NBA hall of fame. Radja is one of the most accomplished Europeans of all time.

Not sure career NBA averages of 17/9 in an era of dominant bigs is "fringe rotation" level either.

It's basically worse than Cliff Robinson or Detlef Schrempf ... neither of whom will ever sniff the hall of fame.

There should be a dedicated wing for 'Great International Players'. Dino Radja being in and Chris Webber not, or Schrempf not is a joke. We all know it, if you're Croatian I understand Radja is a fantastic player but he doesn't belong with Karl Malone or Tim Duncan, he just doesn't.

If Cliff Robinson was adopted as a baby by a Croatian family would that just make him a hall of famer? If Detlef had just gone home to Germany from WAshington instead of toughing it out in the NBA and making 3 All Star teams and an All NBA team and putting up godlike stats in Euroleague would he be a hall of famer?

Just because Radja went home after 3.5 years of NBA, he's in. It's stupid. La Bamba will probably get in the hall of fame and he's barely Rod Strickland.

If Dino Radja is a hall of famer, Bosh sure as **** is, and even Luis Scola is.

Again, it's not an NBA hall of fame, and basketball exists outside of the US. So why would there be a dedicated section to great international players?

Maybe it should be the basketball hall of fame and there is a special section for "Great American Players"?

No. Great NBA players belong in a special place in the hall because it's the best league and it isn't close.

Dirk Nowitzki is not American. He's a 1st ballot hall of famer.
Manu Ginobili is a hall of famer.
Tony Parker is a hall of famer.

They belong in the hall of fame. They played in the best league and dominated.

Detlef could have scrambled back to Europe after 3 years like DIno Radja and been in the hall of fame, he's a better player.

There are American players and European players who won't make the hall of fame because they chose to stay in the best league and play while guys like Radja and La Bamba and Rudy Fernandez couldn't handle it.

Detlef, Luis Scola and Jose Calderon ... they chose to be good rotation players and won't make the hall of fame.

Webber, Cliff Robinson and Tom Chambers, Rip Hamilton could have statues if they were born in Latvia. They'll never get in the hall of fame but a backup guard Sarunas Marcolonus who wasn't as good as Andre Miller is in the hall.

It's laughable. If the basketball hall of fame wants an international wing with exhibits for NBA rotation players like Divac, Dino, Sarunas and **** total jobbers like Ubiratan Pereira Maciel ... I mean if Brad Daugherty had been born in Brazil he'd have a **** statue.

Some players aren't in the HOF for their ability as elite players but beva they spread the game.

The HOF clearly thinks Divac/Saitans/Radja spread BASKETBALL more than guys like Calderon, Clif Robinson, Detlef, etc.

Detlef maybe could have spread BASKETBALL more if he stayed in Germany. But he didn't he went to the best league (got paid handsomely) and didn't influence the game like the others. Hence no HOF.

I do wish, "influencer" I a different area than bball player (like journalist, commentator, coach, etc.). But the BASKETBALL HOF puts PLAYERS who are in for being "influencers" in as players.

This was talked about alot when Yao made the HOF. He was in mostly for his "influence" on the game of basketball (opening up the Chinese market).

Interesting the probability page. I could not find Luka, but given his super performance in Europe and NBA ROY, his chance should be already higher than a lot of guys there.

Influencer, international pioneer or something. Spreaders. I don't care but don't tell me Ubiratan is better than Tom Chambers. It's not a huge deal, but it just makes the hall laughable. American college is another issue, it weighs on players but no clear guidance is given on how much it should matter. Clearly if it weighed as much as the NBA a guy like Christian Laettner would be in.

Regarding Yao, I'd say he falls more in the Walton camp of injury shortened. Yao did spread teh game but he made 5 All-NBA teams and was utterly dominant. He's not rotation level starter Dino Radja.
