You do realize that the 5 Minneapolis Lakers rings came between 1949-54.

Celtics won their first in 1957......

If the 60’s were so easy, then why didn’t the Lakers win any titles then? Even with Wilt, Baylor, Jerry West
Celtics had more $ and a team full of hall of famers, even the bench...i wouldn't count mpls 5 nor bos 11 because that era was easy or weak, simply cause there weren't enough teams compared to nba/aba merger

What if in 50+ years time, the league has expanded to 60 teams. Do we count the current era's titles or not? People like you saying this is a slap in the fact to the guys that paved the way for the players we have today.

 Still in denial.

This is the epitome of “reaching” haha. All good, especially since you have nothing, but nice try. Open your eyes because we are here and this is now.

It’s not the end of the world tho. Hey basketball may no longer be your thing but at least you still have great history in other ways. Battle of Bunker Hill? Boston Harbor with the Tea Party? That freedom trail is great. Y’all even got the famous clam chowda. If you take the orange or green line on the T you can exit Haymarket and get some great Italian food in the North End. Even the Southie area is gentrified and better now. Boston is a great City, let basketball go, you had your time but it’s time to wake up and accept reality. Have fun with your 17 titles but ewwww, don’t think that makes you great. In terms of franchises we put you at top 4 if it makes you feel better. You drafted Tatum and Brown but other than that don’t hold yourselves too high. Stick to those cannolis and pastries, those are great.

Strike 1 for baiting.

Nope I’m actually happy. Truth hurts

I’ll tell you what, I’ll add a +1 to your post so it softens the impact.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q61

The team can apply to have the player's salary excluded starting on the first anniversary of the player's last regular season or playoff game, and not before the one-year anniversary of the first regular season game for which the player was on the team's roster under his current contract. If the player played in fewer than 10 games in the last season in which he played, the team can apply on the one-year anniversary of the player's last regular season or playoff game, or 60 days after his last game in the current season, whichever is later.

The determination as to whether an injury or illness is career ending is made by a physician jointly selected by the league and players association, or by a Fitness to Play panel (see question number 62). The determination is based on whether the injury or illness will prevent the player from playing for the remainder of his career, or if it is severe enough that continuing to play constitutes a medically unacceptable risk.

If the injury exclusion is granted, the player's salary is removed from the team salary immediately.

If the player later "proves the doctors wrong" and resumes his career, then his salary is returned to the team salary when he plays in his 25th game1 in any one season, for any team. This allows a player to attempt to resume his career without affecting his previous team unless his comeback is ultimately successful.2 If the 25th game was a playoff game, then the player's salary is returned to the cap effective on the date of the team's last regular season game (i.e., the returned salary counts toward the luxury tax).

There are a few additional nuances to the salary exclusion:

If the player resumes his career and his salary is returned to the team salary, the team can re-apply for the salary exclusion under the same rules (including the rules for the waiting period).
If a player retires, even for medical reasons, his team does not receive a salary cap exception to acquire a replacement player.
A team can only apply for salary exclusion during the original term of a contract. If the player was waived and his salary stretched (see question number 64), the team must apply for the salary exclusion before the contract's original end date.

His original contract expired unfortunately for LA

Has it? He signed a four year deal in 2016. So that would be for the 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, and this year, 2019-2020. With the dates being pushed back he would still be under contract.

I mean it's not like FVV is not under contract with the Raptors. Any other player that is going to be a UFA for that matter.

It is interesting wording though if it says "original end date" as the piece suggests. The "original end date" at the time of signing is probably sometime in July. Although he would still be "under contract" given the COVID circumstances the "original end date" has expired. I suspect the league wouldn't be so formalistic. Lakers probably pass muster on that.

My initial reaction was that there's no way this would work but if Mozgov got it then who knows..

Deng played more minutes than Miles played, and Deng was able to do it the very next year. Miles needed 2 years of rehab and still couldn't log 300 NBA minutes. If Blazers didn't get the exception, Lakers definitely shouldn't.

I'm not sure which stat is worse on his BBR page-

Hall of Fame Probability 0.9%
Career Earnings- (may be incomplete) $153,461,551

153 million for a guy who made 2 ASG and averaged 14 PPG over 16 years?

Are we SURE there isn't a trade to the Knicks out there to reunite him with Thibs?

I remember Bulls fans arguing that his jersey should be retired.

true story: I once helped him use the self checkout at Home Depot. He was in front of me and taking too long. I saw him a few weeks later at the grocery store with Ben Gordon and he gave me a head nod. I think he remembered me. I felt cool for a second.

I remembered the craziness that came about when the Bulls nearly killed the guy with the botched spinal tap. It's unbelievable how beat up he was after that near death exp. not to mention it didn't help that the dude played heavy minutes. I felt bad for him b/c if the Bulls weren't cheap at the time and had an NBA calibre starting 2 instead of Keith Bogans, maybe Rose doesn't get hurt but oh well.

Then again, he's a smart dude who befriended the daughter of Chase CEO Jamie Dimon at Duke and he became really successful at investing his money in the real estate game. Don't know if he'll be a hall of fame player b/c it certainly won't be for his basketball accomplishments, maybe it will be for his work in South Sudan and the UK with promoting the game.
