Why don't guys fight anymore?

These players are insanely strong, some of them with world class fast twitch muscles. They have no protective gear at all. A clean hit could end someone's career. A broken hand or orbital bone or concussion. The money is too big and problem characters don't make it to the league as frequently. I think a higher percentage of players have their heads on straight these days.

That's absurd. Even in the UFC people don't get their careers ended in one clean hit and all they do is hit each other. Players in rugby used to Fight each other for fun all unpadded and never heard of anyone getting seriously hurt from a few punches.

Sure a freak accident can occur if someone's head hits the hardwood but that can happen in normal play too.

It's not absurd at all. Do you realize how strong guys like Shaq/Wilt/Zion are? They might suck at fighting, but one punch connecting could smash bones. I've heard of street fights with guys cheekbone's caving in, there's footage of Kimbo Slice basically making a guys eye fall out in a backyard fight and he's not even a good fighter by UFC standards.

UFC fighters only fight once every few months and they have tons of time to recover afterwards and they wear gloves. NBA players have to play multiple games/week and each player is really important. Hockey players who fight and hit a lot suffer all kinds of problems as well and look how much protection they have.

Save me the melodramatics. Mike Tyson and Wilder don't retire guys with one punch and you expect me to believe Zion is packing some kind of weapon of mass destruction in his fists. If you stood there like a statue and wait for Zion to wind up sure that is heavy impact but that isn't real life. I highly doubt Zion can even land a punch against someone who is moving

Could it happen? Sure. But guys could also get undercut land on their head and crack their skill. Should we discourage jumping as well ?

I dont think its so much guys fighting as it is not seeing every player on the court recruiting each other and making plans to hang out in the offseason after every loss.

Lebron is a shining example of this.

People wanna see competition and not a pseudo-exhibition league where the players are all forming super teams and lecturing about politics. Its a kids game at the end of the day not the justice league

those are trained fighters in a controlled setting, over a soft mat.
a clean hit from a sucker punch, maybe even on the back on the head, and then land on the hardwood, could have extremely severe consequences.
If Shaq somehow managed to hit Brad Miller both careers could have been over at that point.

Ever since the palace the league gives out huge suspensions for fighting and even automatic game suspensions for leaving the bench so it’s as simple as it’s not allowed. I’d like more intensity in the games not necessarily fighting, im not going to pretend like I don’t enjoy watching it tho haha

In the 80's & 90's there were tons of on court fights. What happened? Are guys just too soft nowadays? Could you imagine Twitter if guys still fought. Hell, the Embiid KAT air boxing fight a few years back was huge and nothing really happened. Would it behoove the NBA to encourage guys to brawl a bit for entertainment purposes?

I know that you’re trolling, but fighting in NHL Hockey, a sport where fighting was actually encouraged and they didn’t even kick the offending players out of the game, has pretty much killed fighting itself. There’s this thing called concussions that seems to worry people now.
