Make sure to monitor your blood oxygen level. Get a pulse oximeter online. You might not know your blood oxygen level is low. Not everyone does because they can breath fine they think it’s fine. If it drops into the 80s go to the hospital immediately

Has anyone on here had covid before? If so how was it, what symptoms did you have?

Feel better soon. I haven’t experienced covid thank God but have family and friends that have a family friend died from it. There have been some good advice in this thread regarding how to monitor and react to changes in your condition.

One thing that’s pretty glaring to me is that a lot of people that have had it have described it as cold or flu like symptoms or asymptotic. This is exactly the reason that people should get the vaccine. You can’t assume every cough or fever is covid and moving forward it would be impractical to do so, but the vaccine pretty much eliminates asymptotic transmission and that’s how the world is going to turn a corner.

I think people's reactions to the vaccine vary. Some people say just a sore arm, some people say it feels like a nasty flu for up to 36 hours then it disappears completely.

One theory I heard was that people who had covid have a stronger symptoms to the vaccine for some reason. So perhaps something to keep in mind when planning things out post-jab.

I had zero reaction to the 2nd Pfizer fwiw. Had a slightly sore arm for a day on the first shot. Nothing. Almost wish I had something so I knew it worked.

I had it twice - February & September 2020. Both times very minor symptoms - mild fever and sore throat for a couple of days. My family had it too without any complications. It was like a mild case of the flu for everybody. My gym buddy on the other hand barely made it, he was hospitalized for three weeks.

The same thing happened to a buddy of mine. His body fat percentage is below 7%. His body simply didn't have enough fat to burn for energy while combating the virus. He lost a ton of muscle mass before he got better.

I literally had 0 effects from the 2nd Pfizer shot. The first 1 made my arm sore but the 2nd one I literally felt nothing. Everyone reacts different to it.

I tested negative three times, but I suspect during one of the gaps I got it from a coworker who had it. I've had a consistent daily cough for almost six months now. It sucks.

I am not a doctor. I haven't had Covid. But this appears to be a useful collation and summary of best practices for Covid.

I just got my 2nd vaccine last week--I definitely felt it. The first one was nothing but the 2nd one screwed me up.

I felt extremely cold, had full body shivers even though I was wearing a hoodie/sweats and it was 70 degrees outside and felt groggy. It only lasted 24 hours and after I woke up the following day I was back to normal.

The thing that worked for me was 1) Tylenol 2) 30-45min long HOT shower 3) Food in my system. Once I took a hot shower to warm my body back up and ate some food the symptoms got almost eliminated.

Good advice. I read that Tylenol (acetaminophen) is likely okay, but its better to not use ibuprofen due to it potentially diminishing the antibodies. And best it to not take anything. https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/can-i-take-painkillers-before-or-after-a-covid-19-vaccine-7249169/

I definitely think its smart for people to have some chicken noodle soup or similar ready to go to help your body feel better while it has its immune response. The hot shower is something I'll keep in mind when I get my shot. Thanks for that.

No problem! The other thing I learned (family memebers a nurse) is that you start experiencing the symptons 12 hours after your shot and the symptons last for a full 24hr in most cases.

I got my shot around 10:30am and by 9:30-10:30pm I started really feeling strange. Like something was kicking in. I was sitting on the couch like "aw *** here it comes" lol So be mindful of that if you have any plans.

Woke up, felt like I was sitting in a igloo, popped some Tylenol, took a hot shower, ate a sandwich and by 1-3pm the next day I started feeling a lot better.

I still don't know how I did not contract the virus, when working on a floor where 90% of the patients got COVID and 20% died. Masks, gowns, and vaccines help significantly.

"Knock on wood". I hope that continues, causes this may continue to go on for several months/years.

At this point it is fairly clear that getting Covid gives you long-lasting and durable immunity, including to variants. Once initial antibodies wear off it appears that your T-Cells remember the exposure and when exposed again, rapidly produce the antibodies for Covid.

Rather than bog this thread down I have some links I could send you but if you want them please PM me.

Yeah, I had something really weird in December of 2019. The family of one of my daughter's classmates got a "real weird pneumonia" type sickness right before I did. Could be. Won't ever really know.

I'm glad you mention this.

I recalled from a couple of my co-workers from back in the summer of 2019 about one kid respectively having to come down with this mysterious flu. Both coworkers took their respective kids to the doctor(different times within the summer). The doctors who examined the kids were mystified that they could not figure out what was happening with the kids at the time. They knew it was some form of the flu, but nothing they ever came across before. All they could do is treat the kids with flu medications and pray they can get better in a few days. Thankfully they did to. From that story, I think the virus was already here. It just wasn't as aggressive in 2019 as it was when the Pandemic was declared in 2020.

Fantastic document.

"An educational resource from The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons"

"The vast majority of deaths from this COVID virus occur in those 75 years old and older, with most of those already sick with other illnesses. A large percentage are in nursing care facilities, over 80 years old, and with an average of 2.5 other medical conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, lung and/or kidney disease. These other conditions are called comorbidities, and they increase the risk of serious illness with COVID.

The chances of someone under 50 years old with symptoms dying from COVID-19 is 0.05%. The chances of someone under 18 years old dying from COVID is near 0%. Those that do are those with severe underlying medical conditions. There are roughly 7 times more children that die from the flu than COVID-19. To put it another way, approximately 99.9%+ of individuals who contract COVID will have mild to moderate symptoms and recover, just like with the flu. The majority of deaths are coming from the 0.62% of the population who are in nursing home facilities. "

It was definitely here earlier than the first reported/known cases:

First credible reports were from French military personnel who had been doing drills off the coast of China and I believe that was in September. They did not have anything in summer 2019.
