He's probably top 10, below is the top 5 IMO

Giannis
Embiid
Jokic
AD
Bam

AD never plays center. Giannis is more of a PF than center. I have him below Embiid and Jokic only. Bam has an argument but dude was trash in these playoffs so he takes a hit.

Don't even mention kat dude cant guard a garbage can, even worse than Jokic on defense and nowhere near him offensively.

Towns can stretch the floor, shoot from the outside and distribute. He’s really starting to get underrated, replace DLo and Edwards with CP3 and Booker and you’re talking a whole different team.

I think he has an argument to be one of the bigs on the olympic team. Probably better than Kevin Love at this point.

DA can actually shoot threes. They just took his focus off of that, so he can focus on the things they need him to do. They have enough three-pt shooting all over the team. Well, except for last night, I guess.

I feel like he would play for the UK over the US unless the Bahamas has its own team.

I knew that...I was actually talking with someone about how he could play for the Bahamas...though they wouldn't qualify for the olympics. It's not like he's ever played on their national team though.

It was actually right before I posted that when I was talking to someone about who was on the olympic team.

I think Bam vs Ayton is a great comparison tbh.

Bam had a rough playoffs, but the Heat in general sucked this year and were totally overmatched by the Bucks. Honestly, Bam wasn’t even that bad, Butler just completely **** the bed and let them down in a big way.

Ayton is clearly in a much better team situation, so it’s a little silly to just let winning bias cloud the comparison.

Bam was great in the previous playoffs. I think him and Ayton are similar players. Ayton might be better defensively because of size while having almost as much mobility, but Bam is better offensively imo. Better self creator and passer.

I think he can since it's his nationality and was before he started playing for the NBA..went to HS and college here. Moved to US at age 14 or 15. I think if you change your nationality your are eligible..but maybe not. Not sure about Embiid either who moved from Cameroon at 16. But they may have better case than guys like Jokic and Gobert I think if it comes down to living in US before working here.

His nationality is Bahamian and he played for the Bahamas in 2016 for Centrobasket.

What do the Suns need more in a 5? Versatile defense and interior scoring, or outside shooting and passing? It's a matter of synergized skills. Most people don't understand this, which is why they can't grasp why the Suns are a great team.

I’m just going to bump this thread I didn’t want to start a new Ayton thread.

CP3 is going to get a ton of praise for game 6 (rightfully so), but damn Ayton is so freaking good. Basically the entire game tonight I just focused on him on both sides of the ball. His impact is ridiculous.

Defensively the little nuances in his game are elite, just his overall awareness is so fun to watch. He closes out so well on perimeter shooters very well, perimeter players don’t blow by him with ease and he puts up a hell of a defense at the rim.

Then offensively, that little righty hook is automatic against a smaller defender. He is so good at using his size on the glass as well. And again I can’t say this enough, he takes up zero amount of time for your offense, he is so good at setting screens, cutting, using his size, put backs, and so on.

Only two other Centers can put up a better overall impact than what Ayton has done so far in these playoffs. It’s Jokic and Embiid and that’s it.

How Ayton was able to stay on the floor and impact against small ball VS Rudy was night and day

Not sure USA will select him as a foreigner.

Ayton > Bam which is saying a lot.

Better offensive player and he is true center size.

With Ayton said it before but he really is the best Center positionally wise for a team right at this very second. Not a number one option but who cares his value to any team is sky high.

Jokic & Embiid both are well flawed even before these playoffs. Jokic needs an auto elite rim protector, Embiid how? He’s never healthy.

Ayton and that’s it there’s your Modern Center.

I think this is underrated. While Ayton could still become better at pinning smaller players down low and taking advantage of the mis-match (let's remember he's 22 years old and still has lots of room to grow), the fact that the Clippers couldn't simply play him off the floor by going small, and that Ayton was still able to punish the smaller line-up (8-10 shooting, 17 rebounds including 5 offensive, 2 short of the entire clippers team combined), was really a big difference when compared to the Clippers-Utah series.

Yup. I’m a huge fan of Rudy’s but ya there is a significant difference between the two of them. First of all, playoff Ayton has been as good on the defensive end as Rudy. The dude has been freakishly good on that end.

But yes it’s on the offensive end that he truly separates himself. It’s all simple stuff, again put backs and basic right handed hook shots. But it’s so damn reliable for him. Rudy isn’t able to take advantage when he has guys like Morris or PG on him. While tonight I felt like every possession that Ayton didn’t get a touch in the paint when he had one of those guys on him, was a waisted possession for them.

People can say I’m a prisoner of the moment. But again there are only 2 Centers at the moment I can see having a bigger impact overall than Ayton. That’s Jokic and Embiid. To me Ayton is solidifying his spot as the #3 Center in the league at the moment. His impact on both ends of the court in the playoffs has truly been elite.
