Doesn't seem like there is a deal here, which is fine, Celtics and Sixers don't need any more lore making.

Getting traded to the Celtics is the only scenario where Ben Simmons learns how to shoot and becomes an instant top 5 player, and I'm not ready for that.

I agree unless the Sixers are offering a lot more than Simmons for JB.

Tatum/Brown/Simmons would def be interesting, Ben would fill a lot of their holes in distribution, shot creation for others and orchestrating the defense.

I still wanna know what the Celtics first offer was? They can't trade Smart for like another 2+ months right? So they were like "Hey... Wanna finalize a Simmons trade after the holiday?"

Morey: "Oh? You mean Veteran's Day?"
Stevens: "Nah, later."
Morey: "Thanksgiving?"
Stevens: "Nah, still later."
Morey: "Christmas?"
Stevens: "Nah, still too soon."
Morey: "NEW YEARS?"
Stevens: "Well... getting warmer... How about MLK day?"

What kind of lowball **** offer was the first offer for Simmons? Because I really doubt you'd be seriously offering something THAT FAR OUT involving another player.

Why would the Celtics want a canc (sorry, if that word is offensive, let's say) poisonous headcase like Simmons.

He's already proven if he's not happy with his situation he'll just sit out, claim some malady, and then not honor his contract and expect to be paid.

Not a huge fan of Jaylen Brown, but it will be a big win for Morey if Philly can get him for Simmons

Brown would never be traded for Simmons. Simmons wouldn't report to Boston so the team would have to take back a very unhappy Jaylen Brown. Its not worth the risk. Ben's issues only go away if he's wearing Purple and Gold and helping LeBron. The most likely trade is still Westbrook for Simmons.

To say something nice about the idea of Ben to Boston, I still remember the great synergy Simmons and Tatum had in the allstar game a couple years ago. Throwing alley-oops to each other and really seemed to enjoy playing together. I'm not trading Jaylen for Ben at all ever but I'm not sour on the idea of having Ben on the team if there's another way.

Beat writers are not all the same person. In my experience these particular ones are very good, watch games, and are in tune with the Celtics and the league.

I don't think the Sixers trade Simmons AND Maxey without getting more than a one-year vet minimum PG in return. I like the idea of trading Simmons for a 3, as Maxey is starting to convince me that he can grow into the PG position.I think that Simmons, Maxey AND Curry is absurd.

You're talking sort of like the Sixers have the upper hand here. They're getting a 25 year-old efficient 25ppg scorer in return, and the main piece going back is the mother of all distressed assets (at least in the non-injured category). So the throw-ins have to be pretty sweet. If you're looking at Maxey and thinking 'I dunno, there's a chance he could develop into a top 100 player' that doesn't seem like a big enough hold up to prevent the Sixers from a) clearing their major problem up b) getting an even younger player back and c) addressing their half creation creation problem. And getting Schroeder also gives them a playable point who's likely giving you at least the same level of play as Maxey, if not the intangibles.

(I've learned from years on the trade board that, if you absolutely love a trade and have no hesitation or no gut feeling that you very well might lose it, it's probably not worth even talking about.)

As a Celtic fan and one of the few people who still has hope for Simmons, this just isn’t going to happen unless Morey has some sort of crush on Marcus Smart.

Brown for Simmons is a big no from the Celtics.

Simmons for Brown isnt that far fetched. Fans are underrating Ben's impact on the game. Outside of shooting he does everything else on the court better than Brown.

Even though we are 8-2 we have been getting crushed on the boards without Ben this year.

Simmons assisted on the most 3 pt shots in the league for the past two seasons. Celts players are complaining about Brown/Tatum shooting too much they wouldn't have that problem with Simmons/Tatum.

Pritchard
Langford
Tatum
Simmons
Horford

Been calling it for awhile.

That setup above craps on any setup the Celtics trot out. So streamlined the offense/defense will work superbly here.

Both parties if are amicable and operate properly stands to win out here.

I am not questioning that the Sixers would have to give up more than SImmons to get Brown. My two problems with your scenario are 1) giving up both our former, All-Star PG and our current, playing-45-minutes-a-game (and playing them pretty f'n well, I might add) PG, and only gettin a stop-gap, vet minimum guy at PG in return. While the Sixers are probably looking at long-term young PG's who fit Embiid's timeline (like Murray from SAS or Haliburton from SAC), the ascendency of Maxey as a potential solution at PG does allow them, in my view, to look to move Simmons for a 3. Trading both Simmons and Maxey for a 3 is less than desirable.

The other thing is, even if you argue that the distressed value of Simmons requires the addition of assets, making it Simmons PLUS Maxey PLUS Curry (who is currently leading the NBA in TS% and is on probably one of the best non-rookie contracts in the league) PLUS a 1st round pick is - as I said earlier - absurd.

Feel free to disagree.

If he simply learns how to shoot that still wouldn't be enough. He lacks heart. He lacks scoring ability.
