Mr B wrote:Ja has definitely lifted his game this season and is one of my favorite players to watch. I don’t see him as a superstar yet though. He needs to play in the playoffs the way he’s played the last 20 games.

Also with as good as Ja has been the only his season and with Luka having a down season, Ja still has fewer points, assists, and rebounds than Luka.

Ja has the better team but he’s not the better player compared to Luka. Someone posted that Luka is in the same talent level as Magic/Bird/Labron which I agree and Ja or more like Mike Conley with better assist numbers.

Luka is not on the same level as Magic, Bird, or LeBron. He is more on the level of James Harden and other great perimeter players in the league who put up great numbers on one side of the ball.

Hilarious that this thread even exists. Ja isn't even on the same level as Luka. Get outta here with this lol.

You are assuming it is a fun thread and people want to discuss this idea. Truthfully people don´t care.

You are wrong, i for example do care, luka and ja are two of my favourite players in the league, and it is entartaining to see so many takes. I won't rank them, i like them both, but this thread is a good read

fair enough but in one regard you are making my point, even hardcore fans of both don´t bother to rank them. Nobody cares about that detail. They could use their own respective threads with highlights and all good stuff for easy to follow/ concentrated access. This too shall pass soon and new one pops up, rinse and repeat.

but you DO have a take.
you are fooling yourself, boss.
you are posting this thread after a full week's worth of awesome ja hi-lites. right now he's the hilite reel of the week and that's what elicited your topic NOW.

if you didn't have a "take" you would have asked "wow, what do you guys think of ja's week". but you didn't did you. you think this puts him over luka

I'm gonna overreact like it's usual around here... During his last 6 games, Doncic has had the highest defensive Win Shares in the entire league:

Doncic (DAL): 0.047
Bullock (DAL): 0.045
Kleber (DAL): 0.045
JJJ (MEM): 0.041
Brunson (DAL): 0.037
Randle (NYK): 0.036
Smart (BOS): 0.035

Yeah, lots of Mavs players there and Doncic on top of the list. And even if looking at the entire season, Doncic's defensive rating is still better than Morant's. So the posters justifying their opinion based on defensive performance are either clueless, haven't watched enough Mavs' games, haven't watched enough Grizzlies' games or a combination of all.

Something tells me that at the end of the season this thread will be mocked.

What do i gain from lying? Ja has elevated his play this year to a level that he previously wasn’t on. Luka has been par or slightly sub par so far this year. All you can do is compare the tiers they’re on. Luka is a tier 1 player (top 10 or so in the league), is ja?

With that said i really don’t have a take. Neither is in position to win their team a championship which is all I care about. Debates like this are just for fun and to give people something to chat about.

Want to see toxic go check out waves of Luka vs Young threads, this feels like 2.0 all over again. Being popular topic doesn´t mean it´s a good one by default, again so many examples. There are some interesting takes, sure, still somewhat hidden between the hot take comparisons. Might be worth to pop in and find them if you have time but not optimal in any means.

this is turning into a dumb debate. i didn't say you're lying, you're just adamant that you have no take and you are misleading your own self. i guess what irks me is people who live in the moment

By you telling me what I’m thinking is you calling me a liar…doesn’t matter if I’m lying to myself or someone’s else. It ultimately doesn’t matter to me.

I really don’t have an opinion. I thought it would be a conversation people would enjoy having, 5 pages later people seem to be into it. Don’t tell me what I’m thinking. IM NOT LYING to you, I truly don’t know or care who’s better.

What do those threads have to do with me or this thread?
Everyone so far has been respectful of each other’s opinions and backed their opinions with some form of quantitative or qualitative data. Don’t project your frustrations over those threads on this one. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t participate but don’t come in here being negative for no reason. Everyone is being cool.

Mavs with Luka: 17-10 (63%)
Grizzlies with Ja: 19-13 (61%)

Mavs without Luka: 6-9 (40%)
Grizzlies without Ja: 11-2 (85%)

Please lets end this nonsense.

He's playing better so far this year, but Luka has played better in the playoffs.

the jury is on luka. bird said luka reminds himself and only time will tell. and luka plays like lebron or is a lebron archetype not harden. ja is poor mans drose who will get shut down by lebron's size.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Once again Dallas beat the Memphis, led by Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic: 37 points (13-25 of shooting), 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, and 5 turnovers
Ja Morant: 35 points (14-31 of shooting), 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 7 turnovers

Let the mavs have this one. I like the Grizz more than the Mavs as a whole. Nico Harrison and Cuban have no clue how to build around Doncic.
