In Phillys case the only reason the series has shifted a bit is because Embiids thumb is messed up and the Raps have basically benefited from losing their smallest player on the court and going big (with Barnes return.)

Conversely, Gary Trent Jr. was sick for game 1 and 2, Barnes got injured in game 1, Thad got injured in game one and Fred Van Vleet has been injured since the before the playoffs started.

You could say, Embiid got injured and it let the Raps back in it. Or you could say, the Raps got healthy and Fred was forced out due to injury.

Raps D looked fantastic in game 5.

Brooklyn had a good chance of coming back from 3-0 down, because they'd lost each game by small margins, so if Simmons had played in Game 4 onward, his defensive greatness and his unmatched ability to hit the shooters (assisted more 3-pointers than anyone in the NBA during his years in Philly) would have tipped the scales to Brooklyn so those narrow losses would be wins. But, herniated disc is a herniated disc.

Philly can even play these next couple games just mailing it in, resting on this fact.
Congratulations on Philly for moving to the next round.

Really odd take.

Or he could have tipped the scales in Boston's favor and those narrow losses would be blowouts.

The Raptors are due to finally have a good shooting game from 3. OG won't brick open 3 after open 3 especially at home. This is going to 7

You can't be serious... I'm assuming the 10 in your name is a representation of your age.

I've been a solid Ben Simmons supporter through all the crap, but there was no way he was coming back after a year off, 3 weeks post epidural to the spine and making an impact on the series.

It’ll happen eventually but it won’t be the Raps this year.

well people were saying he was healthy it was just the mental block. even if he avged less than 10ppg i doubt defense and playmaking would go away. has nothing to do with practice. nets got swept but all of the losses were minimal to the point nets would have swept boston if ben was playing.

Certainly in the world of Covid, it's a bigger possibility.

The thumb injury that he played better with than he did in game 1.

A thumb injury isn't gonna cut it as an excuse for a historic collapse - players have played through much worse. Hell Ginobili played through a broken arm

It's just a matter of time. One day a team will go up 3-0 and and have two of their best players out for the rest of the series. IF that happens 4 straight games for the other team is almost guaranteed.

Doc, Harden and crybaby Embiid are a team of destiny here. All of us see it coming

I think that's the closest we've seen.

I still remember that vividly. The relief I felt after that fourth quarter was immense. It felt like Bonzi Wells was killing us in that series

That is one of the great forgotten playoff series.

Blazers had lost 10 straight playoff games before rolling off Games 4-6
Mavs had fully taken the leap to legit contenders.
And a very stressful 3 quarters before the 4th Q comeback/collapse

If my memory is correct Nick Van Excel killed the blazers in that 4th quarter. The blazers were right there with a great chance.
